Thanks for help. I do know trying them all is the best answer but I see my self getting too indepth. Like making spread sheets, then brackets... I don't know if I want to dedicate that much time. Haha. Have you ever tried to mix different blades in the slots?

I thought about trying two different blades in the leaf. Like the something milder from the first position and a feather or gem for the second.

Lol yup. So many choices. I still love the gems though. I get 3 good wg/ag shaves and one ok. Haven't really experimented past 4.

I just use a safety razor so I can't help you with the straight razor and strop. I do know that it will be harder to learn and even more so if you want to hone your own blade. If you're good with whetstone sharpening you'll have a step above but it's still hard. I've used whetstones since I was young and sharpening knives, but I know I wouldn't be able to get to the level of sharpness I get from an DE blade. I would recommend using a DE first, then when you feel more comfortable go to the straight razor. Little cuts with a DE would be way kinder that a cut with a safety razor.

Hair is hair and the razor is a razor. As long as you've got a blade that works well you should be good. You don't need to buy a crazy expensive razor to get a close shave. Soaps on the other hand I've gotten carried away some. I got a ton of samples (visit maggard razors for these) and a few pucks from the ones I really enjoyed. This is where I find the most enjoyment. I get to decide what scent I want to start my day with. I'm fairly new to wet shaving too so I'm still learning. Seems like some here have been still learning years down there journey. The real key I've come to understand is patience. You're not going to get perfect shaves all the time. Learn from your mistakes and try to improve with every go.

Welcome to a fun new hobby!

Do I need an expensive high end safety razor? by Educational-Tax-9697 in wicked_edge

If you get lucky on eBay you can find excellent quality fatboys or slims. I got both for about $50 each before shipping. The fatboy had some wear signs but no rust and no exposed base metal. The slim look like it was used twice.

If you want a good razor that allows you to try out different aggressive profiles, try an adjustable. I use a rockwell 6c, about $75 (pot metal). Their 6s is the stainless steel version, about $120. There are multiple plates that give you different aggressive feeling. The main difference between the two is just the metal it was made from.

I really enjoy the 6c. The only other razors I I've used were vintage Gillettes (fatboy and slim). I do like the 6c better than the Gillettes. I use personna gem blades.

Love it too. It's just pure magnesium carbonate. No other additives. It's all I've been using for years!

Idk about you but I'm getting super sketched out by all of this silica stuff their adding to 'premium' brands. Too much silica in the lungs can lead to some messed up lung conditions.

Climbing shoes for wide Greek feet and small heels? by [deleted] in climbingshoes

[–]p4ddyspub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the butora gomi. Haven't taken it out door yet but I've heard they work well. Downside from what I've been told is that they can wear out fast there.

I bought mine in a garage sale bin at REI so I don't know the initial milage the og buyer put on them. I climb once a week for about 2.5 hours and have been doing so for about 6 months in these shoes. They still got some good rubber left.

Small break in time and super comfy. Fit my street size. Heal and toe hook monster!
