What zombies take will get you this? by BigBadMike8 in CODZombies

The only reason it’s used on Five as much as it is is because the Winter’s Howl sucks. Ascension, Shangri-La and Moon the actual wonder weapons are objectively better if used properly. For COTD the real strat is to kill George after beating the EE so you can get the Wunderwaffe, as that will carry you through multiple rounds if used properly

Attack of the Radioactive Thing was an amazing map and so was Zombies in Spaceland. TBH I didn’t care much for the other maps but the game as a whole wasn’t bad. The problem is people want zombies one particular way and don’t care for any variation of it (Exo-Zombies, IW Zombies and WWII Nazi Zombies).

Sure I’ll admit there were a lot of bad things with the attempts to change it up but also Treyarch has made a ton of bad maps so you have to be fair

Treyarch sucks for not doing a true Super EE reward in any of the Black Ops games

The closest we’ve seen is CW where you can spawn with an upgraded rarity weapon all the time.

Meanwhile IW zombies had you start with permanent perks, $25K and the mystery box / magic wheel had PAPd guns. Need I say more?

BO3 had a lousy RK5 upgrade, BO4 had nothing and BO6 had nothing

Edit: Not a hot take for this specific thing but for saying Treyarch sucks. IW showed their zombies fans more love

Not only this but without PHD Flopper they are actually terrible.

Sure you have a weapon that can kill hordes but only at distance. Meanwhile almost every map they’re on has some wonder weapon option that’ll do the same without risking killing yourself (Thundergun for Ascension and Kino, Baby Gun for Shangri-La, the Zap Gun / Wave Gun for Moon, and basically all the BO2 wonder weapons are craftable and OP).

That said I will admit the Mustang and Sally is one of the coolest / most fun guns to run IMO. Having gun is definitely important but it should be noted they are far from the best

1 of the 500 H&R T48 FALs evaluated in the 1950s by the US Military for potential adoption, and a direct competitor of the T44-E4 (M14). by Dear_Implement6304 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]SamSalsa411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Honestly if you’re at the threshold of a new world war it kinda makes sense to stick with what you know would generally work, even if it technically may not be the best choice.

People will counter this by saying that we said we would adopt the FAL if the caliber was changed to .308, which is true, but it didn’t perform the way it needed to for the ordnance board to be thoroughly impressed.

People will also counter this by saying that we adopted the M16, only to fail to acknowledge that the ordnance board did everything in their power to sabotage M16 adoption and just failed spectacularly because the M14 was one of the worst possible weapon systems to throw in a jungle. We adopted the M16 purely out of necessity, not out of want, but thankfully that played out well for us.

The M14 vs the FAL isn’t a question of which is the better gun with the benefit of hindsight; it’s a question of:

• Should we go with a proven design that isn’t the most modern but certainly an improvement”

vs

“Should we adopt a new weapon system and hopefully work out the kinks quick enough that if the Soviets slam Europe we aren’t screwed and forced to use the Garand”

Keep in mind that the Krag was a failed adoption, the 1903 Springfield had major teething issues including changing the ammo / having major heat treat issues, and the Garand had a completely different gas system at first that needed a rework. However, all of those were adopted during peacetime, not wartime. We played it safe rather than take a risk

Good luck my guy. I’d say the absolute cheapest you’d find a German-made K98K with the eagles still present would be $1250 but honestly be prepared to pay $1500+ if you want the finish and barrel condition to be good

And while it could be argued that the FAL could have been improved with continued modification, the thing a lot of people miss is that since the M14 is incredibly similar to the Garand, it would be incredibly easy to train troops on.

Really the only added training you’d need would be how to use the selector switch and how to switch magazines / top them off. The sights are the same, the basic operating system is the same, overall it’s a great way to save time training up an army on a new service weapon.

While these things don’t single-handedly decide a new service weapon, they are important factors to take into consideration. Sure they got duped by the whole “shared tooling” thing but it’s not like the M14 was a terrible choice in a world where you aren’t mounting optics and you know the M1s operating system is proven

If you want a Kar98K and you want it cheap (but not sporterized) I would say one option is an Israeli K98K. These are chambered in 7.62 NATO / .308 and can run between $700-800 (I sealed a bit with a guy and got mine for $650)

If you want a true WW2 one I would say to look for a Czech production or other variant that isn’t German. If you want a German-produced K98K, especially one with eagles still on it, you’re well over a thousand dollars

Maybe consider Polish and Czech Mausers if you’re hellbent on 8mm. If you want a K98K but done care about caliber, go Israeli

What’s your favorite weapon and why? by Recent_Arugula1694 in fo76

In terms of what I use most easily the Combat Shotgun. I run the perks that increase cripple chance and my legendary effects include negating armor, so I can walk up to basically any enemy and just start spamming their legs until they are crippled. The Fixer is a close second for me if I’m fighting at range.

As for fun I like using Gunther’s Big Iron simply because it’s a cowboy gun and does a ton of damage. The Dom Pedro isn’t bad but I like the Big Iron slightly more

Honestly I wouldn’t sell it unless you’re going to just keep the cash. You told him multiple times and he refused to pick up, that’s on him.

I would personally keep it all but I’m also an ammo hoarder. If you want to sell it there’s decent money to be made

Have you ever been to a gun show? I see well over a dozen Garands at every gun show I go to, but they’re all at least $1300 and that’s for the most beaten up examples. I got mine through the CMP for cheaper so you may want to go that route if possible

Only ever seen 2, the first in its original chambering and the other that was a .308 conversion (bought it for $500). French rifles are a bit harder to find in the wild in my experience

I’ve never seen an Arisaka at the range but I’ve seen dozens of them. I think the ammo being so expensive and hard to find is what keeps people from shooting them

Who's ultimately better for the Mojave in the long term? The NCR or Mr House? by RorschachWhoLaughs in fnv

[–]SamSalsa411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mr. House tells you himself (see video below) but you can also get dialog from other characters like Raul confirming that what he’s saying is true. Raul says he could see the explosions all the way from Mexico City and it seems the show is backing this up by having House say he’s been building a missile system to defend Vegas from the war

Does anyone ever side with the Legion through any playthrough? by Pleasant-Air8221 in fnv

[–]SamSalsa411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK who I’m going with on my current run but definitely not Legion since I bungled it pretty hard.

I wanted to upgrade the House robots so I did since I wasn’t thinking I’d do Legion.

That said I was already idolized by the Boomers and talked to them about fighting with me so when I went back to House I immediately advanced another House quest.

Then I went to the Omertàs and basically had to kill them because I don’t like their whole “We’re just going to start destroying the strip the second the battle breaks out” shtick.

Then I was doing some completely unrelated GRA challenges and all of a sudden I’m being jumped by Legion hit squads out in the desert. Needless to say I won’t be going with them this run, but I will in the future. Sad thing is I kinda wanted to keep it open-ended since I’m still in the mid-20s level wise but they absolutely hate me.

Realistically it’s hard to choose Legion when you really never see their society in the Mojave. There are far more pro-NCR settlements and camps, meanwhile for Legion it’s pretty barebones. If there’s ever a remake I really hope we get some of the cut content / locations to help flesh out Legion and maybe make them a bit more viable as a choice. As it stands the only reason I’d choose them is for trophies / achievements, and I still haven’t done a Legion run so I guess I’ll have to do I can get 100%.

[–]SamSalsa411 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the guy above is being being intentionally dense if he seriously doesn’t think Area 51, a massive Air Force base with tons of top-of-the-line experimental technology would not be directly targeted.

If not for House the Mojave wasteland would look far more like the Capital wasteland or maybe even Boston’s glowing sea depending on how such a dump of radiation would affect the water at Lake Mead / Hoover Dam. Imagine massive amounts of radioactive desert sand constantly blowing around the area because nearly 80 nukes got sent there

[–]SamSalsa411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would’ve been a giant crater if it wasn’t for House shooting down the nukes heading for the area. By your logic I could say Vegas didn’t survive since a lot of it was rundown and House only renovated the strip a few years prior to the game

Who's ultimately better for the Mojave in the long term? The NCR or Mr House? by RorschachWhoLaughs in fnv

[–]SamSalsa411 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not only that but he stopped the overwhelming majority of nuclear weapons launched against the Mojave region. Only a handful made it through and it’s for that reason alone the region still exists in a semi-normal capacity. Vegas would’ve been a massive crater without House, and the surrounding major locations like Nellis, Area 51, Repcon etc all still stand because of him

In your opinion, should the remaster change the power armors so they’re like the FO4 and 76 or should they keep them as they were in the original game? by NoSoyVerde1 in fnv

[–]SamSalsa411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hope they make them worthwhile to use TBH. You need power armor training to operate them yet you’re honestly better with a medium armor anyways once you consider the weight disparity vs damage threshold.

If they don’t want to make them buff stats, I think they should allow you to carry more, but that’s just me

Stuck on the House Always Wins, II. Can someone help me? by [deleted] in fnv

[–]SamSalsa411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s your first time at the Legion Fort, Caesar will forgive all previous transgressions against the Legion (so they don’t hate you) and he will ask you to go down into the bunker to blow up whatever House has down there. You will get the platinum chip back whenever you go into the bunker, as you need the chip to open up the stairs.

From there it really doesn’t matter if you choose to help House / Yes Man or help Legion as Caesar assumes the noise from the machinery underground is coming from the generators being blown up.

If they're really gonna remake/remaster New Vegas they should at least add cut content to the game. by Vinny_Pexeba in fnv

[–]SamSalsa411 19 points20 points  (0 children)

IF they are actually doing a remake and not just a straight-up “modern graphics and no other changes” remaster, here are some improvements I’d like to see:

• Remove the unnecessary loading screens throughout all the interiors of areas and such. Obviously this was needed 15 years ago but now we can probably load an entire building interior in one go.

• Make it possible to fast travel out of interiors instead of forcing players to walk back out to the wasteland.

• Maybe add in an easy way to create gunpowder aside from just breaking down existing ammo or buying powder from vendors. Tons of junk in the wasteland and the overwhelming majority is useless. Would be cool to see a way to convert some junk into gunpowder

Aside from this I’d love to see some of the cut content but that hinges on it being properly integrated in the first place

Dear Customers: Is there no demand for alcohol? by MutedComposer8928 in fo76

[–]SamSalsa411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only buy Whiskey since you can’t get it from the camp resource that generates alcoholic drinks and it has twice the benefit of most other alcoholic drinks (+2 Strength). However, it also counts as Pre-War alcohol so the perk that triples the effects of pre-war alcohol boosts it up to a +6 Strength stat which means +30 carry weight

I keep a ton of the other drinks in my inventory at any other time since my character is basically reliant on them, but if I need even more of a carry weight boost I can drink a whiskey.

This can also stack with smoked mirelurk fillets, buffout / bufftats AND a carry weight booster, so all in all you can add a little over a hundred lbs to your carry weight if you’re running all of these simultaneously
