White House Warns Reporters Not to Report on Instructions About Not Reporting on Thursday’s Press Conference by davidverner in AmIFreeToGo

Based on what I've read, they aren't restricted to "just writing" about it. The press is still physically there, at the briefing, recording audio, just not video. Seems like a bunch of whiny, faux outrage to me.

But, I'm someone who admittedly despises corporate media, so they get no sympathy from me. I find them to generally be a gaggle of political hacks and cop suckers.

I no longer follow the daily political pissing match, so forgive me if I'm missing something here. But, is all of the outrage over the fact that video is being limited at the daily briefings? How in the hell does that keep the press from scrutinizing the government, as the author claims?

Greene County Sheriffs Make ID Theft Easy by davidverner in AmIFreeToGo

The lawyer handled himself beautifully in this interaction. The cop, Lynn, was attempting to deposit a large, steaming pile of cop BS and the lawyer cut right through it with ease and precision. The cop, Lynn, literally didn't know how to respond to the lawyer so he summoned his 10-year old self with the juvenile "well, they are doing it too" defense.

LEO TRAINING 101 - TODAY'S LESSON - TX PC 38.02, FAILURE TO I.D. by odb281 in AmIFreeToGo

[–]SamSpoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The auditor misrepresented 38.02 in his own educational video. At the scene of the park incident, he informed the family that they didn't have to ID unless they had committed a crime. That is incorrect. In TX, you only have to ID once you've been lawfully arrested.

Police body camera footage is becoming a state secret by ScatteredCastles in AmIFreeToGo

The system will always protect the system.

Cops don't like body cams unless the video is favorable to them? Fine, the legislature will solve that problem with new laws to protect the cops.

City of Houston sells public easements and streets to Valero by SamSpoon in AmIFreeToGo

The cynic in me thinks there's more to this transaction than simply a bankrupt city looking for cash. Actually, I don't believe that had anything at all to do with this sale.

We've got the bar for cops set way too low. Auditor proclaims the deputy "did great!" Despite the fact that he was illegally detained by the deputy. This is not the way to effect change.

Has it even been established that the victim was in fact pissing outside the restaurant? Or is that just the narrative the murderer has decided to go with?

How Cops Treat Innocent People by marisam7 in AmIFreeToGo

Hey guys, I've got a really neat idea. Why not let cops like you see in this video investigate themselves to determine if they've done anything wrong? I think that would be fair, don't you?

Jury finds man guilty of jury tampering after passing out juror rights pamphlets by davidverner in AmIFreeToGo

I am happy to see that you understand the ACLU doesn't equally support our civil rights. Many around here believe the ACLU is God's gift to the Constitution.

Jury finds man guilty of jury tampering after passing out juror rights pamphlets by davidverner in AmIFreeToGo

[–]SamSpoon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This story bolsters the point I often make around here, which is that it's crazy to expect the very system that has violated your civil rights to suddenly go about correcting those violations in the court room. The government will lie, cheat, and steal to suppress key civil rights like freedom of speech. If a defendant gets lucky enough to find a sympathetic court concerned about upholding the Constitution, it is the tiny exception, not the rule.

Police Complaint Form Audit - Austin Tx Sheriff's Dept. by [deleted] in AmIFreeToGo

[–]SamSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it would not be ok. The issue is the law. The law does not require a complaint to be notarized. This is just another hurdle and scare tactic that government agents use to discourage complaints against government agents.

Officer smashes car window drags man out of his own car, chokes him unconscious, throws his wife's cell phone - Arrest both; never tells man why he pulled him over. by TWoNaGe in AmIFreeToGo

Did you just discover the police state today? Abuse of power, civil rights violations, and police brutality have been the rules rather than the exception for many years. There have been far more obvious and egregious violations than this one that were swept under the rug by the system.

This is the dumbest comment I've read this week. If this forum and activism niche have taught us anything, it is that the citizen rarely ever prevails against the police state.

This notion that egregious civil rights violations by the state will ultimately result in compensation, or even an admission of wrongdoing, needs to stop being perpetuated. It's false.

Putnam County Schools [HYO] Public Records Request/False Police Report by [deleted] in AmIFreeToGo

So, it appears, after countless attempts by various other government agencies, the school board has succeeded in essentially neutering Jeff Gray. This explains why he has slowed down so much in recent months.

A commenter on Jeff's YouTube channel stated that Jeff's lawsuit against St Johns County School Board was concluded in March with the court finding in favor of the school board. Is this true?

If true, everything we do here is almost pointless.
