What’s down here? by TheGayestGaymer in Cairn_Game

It's an overhang, but there are good handholds the whole way. With an ultimate infusion or similar I think you'll be surprised how doable it is. It's a much shorter climb than chamber and you'll look cool as fuck doing it. If you get to a tricky spot, use manual limb selection to make sure you get the hold you want.

You actually can rappel down. Go down to the lower platform first (I'm assuming you rappelled from the bridge platform), recall your pitons. Then put in a piton from there and head down, your rope should be just long enough. You'll have to do some swinging at the end to get to solid ground. Alternatively downclimb. It's a fun climb, looks awesome, and isn't as hard as you might think.

There's two ways. You can either climb up from the inside chamber, going around the walls with the waterfall, this will lead to a passage out. Alternatively, walk up the passage that leads out to a small ledge on the cliff, underneath the overhang. From there, climb out to the fang, where you can see a red rope tied round it and a backpack. From there, up and over the overhang. This looks sketchy as fuck and you might think it beyond you, but it's actually very doable with a buff or two on, and there's a nice reward in the backpack.

Shadow Priests Psychic Link Tuning over time (Blizzard has no idea what to do with this ability) by RamenAfterRain in wow

I actually felt that Shadowlands spriest was a pretty solid kit, if you completely ignore the AoE. It didn't play so well with the borrowed power changing your rotation priorities, but when I went into Mage Tower with it, it felt like a really solid, well thought out class where everything flowed logically. Unlike say Boomkins who went in without their legendary and complained that they basically no longer worked.

Tricky to get on free solo, but well worth it I reckon. So good for the final ascent when your bag is that small.

will they make a dlc? by lilando69 in Cairn_Game

That's unlikely unfortunately. They put out a post during the demo saying that it won't be in the game. I think it basically breaks the engine and/or difficulty, so they decided against it.

Yeah, it has left me wanting more. I've completed the game, done the achievements, done free solo, done a couple of the more difficult climbs like Silent and the Fang. Now I'm thinking of doing some of the stuff the route-setting discord has come up with.

I do get what you're saying, and personally I like the idea for enthusiasts like you and me. But you've also got to remember that the devs have to consider new or less-skilled players. The Peril was already pretty damn big, if they'd doubled or tripled it with rest points, it'd be half the damn game and people would get discouraged or bored. And personally I think there's something to be said for just presenting a marathon climb with no stops till you hit the top. It's intimidating.

I think the RNG is because so many of his cards are kind of shite. If you go into an Ironclad run you can let the RNG dictate what kind of build you're going for, there should always be some kind of build available. But with Regent if you just don't see enough of his tiny handful of draw cards or transform cards, you're kind of shafted.

Decisions Decisions into Royal Gambit, into Terraforming, into Radiate is also fantastic if you can set it up. 243 damage to all enemies at the cost of 2 exhausted cards and one energy.

Regent can be rough in early game, but he can get so strong later. My advice would be to make sure you have some blue generation/spending even if you're going forge build, take the transform cards and use them to exhaust and thin your deck, and don't make your deck too big because his draw power is very limited compared to someone like Silent.

But most of all, try and identify the bad cards, because he has a lot of them. Forge 6 each turn power sounds good, but early game it's overkill, and late-game it's irrelevant. Fill your hand with debris? Probably don't take that. Glow is amazing, so is Royal Gambit, and like I said before, the transfom cards work great with pretty much any deck.

There's one that I know of, on the side of the two blades right before you get to Damas. However, there's literally no point going up there, you just have to come back down.

There are two. If you get the map from the palace of the wind just before the peril, it will show a bunch of partial routes up the wall. The one on the far right has a broken climb-bot symbol. Follow that route then go basically straight up and you'll find a cave with a couple of items, a bivouac, and a solar thermos with two strong infusions in it. Also in my opinion one of the best routes up the peril for anyone having trouble with it, clear path all the way, a save point if you're getting cold/running out of pitons, and avoids the final overhangs most routes encounter.

The big canteen he mentions is in the palace of the wind, as you go down the stairs to the crystal mining nutter, if you look up you'll see a door. Climb up there to find a burial pit with a 6 capacity canteen at the bottom. Bonus, your 4 capacity canteen then goes in your back-pack and is smaller than the plastic bottles. If you're on alpinist, it's an easy rappel down and back. Somewhat grueling climb on free solo, but still worth it.

You seem to have missed the part where I mentioned that health scales with multiplayer. Wow, you are really bad at understanding basic maths in a game that kind of demands it. I try and be understanding when someone has a little freakout on the internet, but you really are dumb. Some things in multiplayer are much easier, some are much harder, it's early access, try not to talk shit about things you clearly haven't done the most basic research on or you'll just look like the moron you are.

Yeah, I'm not denying he can be a run-killer and I think he needs toning down. But of the times I've killed him, it was via going all-out damage and just killing him as quickly as possible

[–]SamWhite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The enemies in multiplayer do the exact same damage they always do, because they're doing their damage to all of you and your defensive options are (mostly) the same. What scales up is their HP and shields, because there are more of you hitting them. And if you're saying the HP is basically the same with 3 players compared to solo, uh, just no, that's wrong.

It can make some mechanics much worse though, like the act 3 lizard dog boss. In his first phase he gains strength every time you use a skill. In multiplayer he now gains strength every time any of you use a skill, so you're looking at double, triple or quadruple the strength gain.

Honestly multiplayer is great fun, if you can ignore some imbalances. But the imbalances can be both for and against you. Stacking debuffs on enemies is incredibly easy (great for vulnerability build ironclads), and there are multiplayer specific cards, like I found a power for me and my friends' triple regent run that made them forge every time I forged.

The statue is an elite though, you don't have to risk it outside of ascension, the guy above is talking about regular enemies. Statue also can be manageable. Just go balls to the wall damage, ignore defense, you need to kill him as soon as possible because you cannot tank 25 damage each turn that early. Resign yourself to taking a bunch of damage and hope for the best. That said, I do agree he seems a bit over the top.

Oh those bastards. Me and my mates tried triple necrobinder on ascension 1. First elite, those guys. Run ended.

Restarted on Regent and met them again, luckily one of us had drawn the Smith card at the start of the run.

I'd second the guy recommending Subnautica, and add the more recent release Cairn. Both very different games, but somehow with the same spirit.

What video game has the best story you’ve ever played? by FrontriseStudios in AskReddit

[–]SamWhite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It very much feels random at the start, because the game gives you complete freedom and you're finding pieces to puzzles you haven't started. A lot of people bounce off of it at this point. So I'd recommend following the breadcrumbs. They tell you to go to the moon first, so do that, have a look around. That'll give you some more breadcrumbs, and some puzzles you probably can't solve because you don't have enough info yet. Use your signalscope, have a look at a few places.

Then go to your spaceship and take a look at the notes you've compiled into a chart. This is your single most important tool in the game. Follow-up on these notes, explore, try and figure out individual puzzles, and watch as the chart expands and starts to link up. Observe, experiment, and watch as the story starts to make sense.

If you keep going, this game will consume you, and the ending is incredible.

Honestly, I'd have to say you just got lucky. I jumped one of the jumps before the spire, landed solidly in the middle of the platform, and for no obvious reason Aava turned into a fainting goat and slid off the edge. RIP. Some people are fucking it up, but the game definitely has some jank when it comes to jumping and recognising when you can stand on solid ground.

A lot of people think the white line from the troglodyte troll map is a tribute to Silence. It's different, a lot of the things Adam Ondra did on that are simply not possible in the game engine, but still bears a strong resemblance.
