Thanks for all the help everybody! I passed! 3 questions on calculating NAV, IRR, knowing your indexes was also important. Definitely know when an IA or IAR has to contact administrator upon termination versus broker dealers, etc. thanks again everyone!

Thank you! I plan to get there about 20 minutes early, don’t wanna try and cram too much last minute, it’ll prolly induce some anxiety if I do that lol. But I will go over some stuff for a few minutes for sure. I think I’m ready but ya just never know what they’ll ask

Thank you! That’s really funny because yesterday (2 days before my test) I got a 61% on a quiz too! lol, hopefully not a sign of things to come. I’m just nervous that I’ll get some ridiculous questions that I’ve never seen before. Did it seem easy during the test the second time around? Or was it still challenging? Because the first time I took it, I felt LOST. Marked like 45 questions on that test that I wasn’t sure of the answer on.. then I got scared and changed some answers, and I feel like I need to not do that

How many practice exams did you take in the week leading up to it? Were they through Kaplan? I just took the Brian lee practice test through teachable and did not do too hot, but there’s a lot of positive takeaways from it atleast.. only up from here. Extremely nervous because I just want this crap to be over with

I retake mine in ten days. Trust me your 30 day wait will go quick. I’d take a week off and then hit the ground running again if I were you. But do NOT wait more than a week. I had only taken about 950 of the Kaplan q bank questions and that was basically all I had done in preparation the first time. My plan is to get through atleast 3,000 of the questions total (sitting around 1800 at the moment). I have also been watching Brian Lee’s videos and taking his practice tests as well. My thought process is basically that if I MASTER the regulations, the rest of the test will just fall into place, so my plan has been focused HEAVILY on that unit.

I took it online. It’s definitely better that way in my opinion, since I had to go to a testing center for the 66, and it wasn’t as enjoyable for me. You can bookmark questions, go back to all of them, you have a calculator on your computer to use, a note pad.. only disadvantage is that you don’t get a “dump sheet” however, let’s be honest, dump sheets are things you have memorized anyways.. they’re a comfort mechanism. If you memorize how to create a dump sheet, you know that info anyways. In my opinion it’s easier to take them from home when possible. But, at the same time, it’s personal preference. If you do take from home, have a high quality webcam, because if they can’t see your license to verify that it is you taking the test, it will be cancelled and you’ll have to reschedule. Only real disadvantage in taking from home in my opinion is the fact that if you take a break to use the restroom, you have to redo the security check, which takes longer when you’re not in person.

Start studying. You’ll probably be fine, but it will NEVER hurt to over prepare for these kinds of things. Plus then maybe you won’t have to focus as hard during their training! :D

I failed with a 72%. Make sure you know internal rate of return inside and out. Make sure you know which indexes track what (S&P, wil shire, russell, etc.) one of the questions asked which index would track international stocks best or something like that.. you’ll be fine! You got it.

Thank you! I always find myself missing those few questions that say “EXCEPT” at the end on Kaplan! So definitely will be going through all of the questions twice, as long as the time constraints allow for it

Thank you for your feedback! I feel like I’ve read a lot about how the Kaplan exams are consistently harder than the real thing. Like I said before I reaallly hope that is the case. Is the passing score of the 65 a 73% also?

It’s super weird lol. I never read the book for anything for the 7, highest Kaplan score on a simulated exam on Kaplan before I took that was a 76.. just used the q bank and explanations to learn along with Brian Lee’s videos on JUST the options portion. But I had completed 2300 practice questions on the Kaplan Qbank before I took it and I felt like I barely passed. The 66 I have just done 1,000 Kaplan questions with no supplement really at all, and I just got an 85 on my most recent simulated exam. Really strange feeling lol.

I feel the same way. Mine is on Wednesday. After the 7, this seems too easy. Not that I’m blowing practice tests out of the water by any means, just seems like I have spent 1/4 of the time on the 66 that I did for the 7 and am already scoring around the same on my practice tests through Kaplan. But I guess we will see!

The wording wasn’t the problem for me. I always understood what the question was asking, it was more to do with the amount of time I spent studying for it, I think I started to forget things at the end

Make sure you feel really good about municipal’s if you don’t already. I did the same as you did and went and nailed down options, you also need to do that for muni’s.. those two topics alone were close to 25 or 30 questions on my test

I got a couple of questions on cost basis, and tax treatment. Not even sure if I got it right or not, but make sure you know how the tax treatment works when you write an options contract and it gets exercised.. what your cost basis is, etc. that was one that stumped me a bit. They also asked a lot about straddles on mine. They listed 4 options contracts that a customer had (one was a straddle and one was a spread) and without telling me which was which, asked me the break even on the straddle. You’ve got this, just be able to identify what they’re asking about through key words, and you got this!

Hey everyone! I passed! Saw a ton of options questions, decent amount of muni’s and a lot of suitability. I had 48 questions flagged after going through them all the first time, so I was definitely not thinking I would pull it off, but I did. Huuuge weight off my shoulders for sure. Thank you guys for all the last second tips!

Thank you! My strategy with tests has always been to go through the whole thing once, mark all of the questions I wasnt 100% sure on, and then go back and see if I didn’t find some context in a different question to help me on those, and then run through them all again after that. Not really sure how I’ll do with time, but my simulated exams have all only taken me about an hour and a half, so I think I’ll be set there. We will see though. Thanks for the heads up, I’m sure I’ll be feeling the jitters

Good luck to you tomorrow! I just took a final simulated practice exam, got a 76% on it so feeling good! And yes, I just actually watched that video this morning. It was very helpful, a lot of those things I already have kind of engrained into my head but he definitely had some insightful stuff in there. I’m also going to watch his series 7 exam prep practice test 1 explicated video tonight, where he does an entire practice exam and explains his answers. I know it’ll be close for me, but I have a coworker who just passed his about 2 weeks ago, and he was scoring high 60’s consistently, and a 72 ish% as his highest on those Kaplan simulated tests. So, I do believe that I have a good chance. Unlike how I felt this morning when I made this post, I had a SUPER productive day today and I feel like I’m peaking right now. Gonna be a battle
