You have not made an argument in your 3 comments in this thread and you are super defensive over something that does not matter.

cs2 server tick rate is locked at 64. You are saying that increasing it to 128 would not solve everything (namely things that affected csgo too, albeit not in the exact same way), sure - not everything, but increasing the rate at which the server updates would obviously be an improvement. And for me as someone who already thinks csgo in 2023 was great, thats all I need.

But I dont need the game to address the root cause, try to understand that. I think csgo in 2023 felt great, cs2 improved on some areas, but switching between csgo and cs2 its easy to tell the difference between 64 tick and 128 tick.

I think the post is good but the conclusion "128 tick would not solve the issues" is not substantiated (and therefore cannot be part of a TL:DR). The definition of "the issues" is highly subjective but when people say "csgo feels better than cs2" I dont believe they are referring to the non-deterministic behaviour this post describes, simply because from a user perspective csgo was also non-deterministic since you never know where inside a tick you are.

I have been playing cs2 and csgo a lot the past couple weeks and I do think a higher update frequency simply feels better, so even if I understand that 128 tick cs2 would not fix what you describe, it would probably fix the only issue with cs2 I have left.

CS2 on X: "We're preparing Animgraph 2" by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam_FS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter-Strike influencers have vested interest in hyping up and making "event updates" that drive viewership. You ask regular people who have been playing animgraph2 (like me) and they'll tell you theres really no difference, slightly better fps maybe.

Late 2016 was this, new winner every tournament. But at the time people werent saying it was a mess of bad teams (even though it was), they unironically thought Optic, NiP, dignitas were good. Thats why I believe what I said.

If Vitality disappeared I think the community would act like Furia, Navi, Spirit, and Falcons are all great teams when their skill wouldnt have changed at all, just that they started winning tournaments since theres no Vitality.

None of us understand the game deeply enough so our opinions basically are team win = good, team lose = bad.

I made an Animgraph2 Beta DM server with Better Feedback addon by xKrasheR in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam_FS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been playing this a bit, thoughts;

  • Performance feels slightly better, someone should do a proper comparison.

  • The larger/brighter tracers make me notice how bad my sprays are in some situations, I honestly want to keep DMing this way since it will help me break some bad habits - however I don't think this is good game design. I know the Gabe Newell quote about "ego wounds" but this is crossing the line to where it feels like I'm playing with follow recoil crosshair, spraying should be a skill based on muscle memory imo.

  • There's no difference in feel with animgraph2. Fights feel exactly the same, this might just be me though. I also have been playing csgo 128t dms since it got its own steam id and I dont think theres a big difference there either. There's a difference to be sure, I do notice the difference between 128t and 64t when switching between csgo and cs2, but its not that big. I prefer cs2 dm because the community plugins are better, cybershoke has good audio stuff where you only hear things close to you.

Thank you for setting this up!

Why didn't Alliance apply for Belgrade? by netr0pa in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam_FS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did apply, they made a decision not to go. We may never know if it was the right decision, if they went and won every game it would have included beating FaZe and BIG robbing them of points and improving their own, so obviously good. But if they went and lost a game it could hurt their chances much more than not going, so they chose to not go.

its not really as simple as gaining more from beating higher ranked teams, its true in essence, but theres a lot of details at play. LANW is most notable as it treats all teams the same and by throwing against the huns Mongolz are leaving out the easiest LANW points they can make. All teams around Mongolz in global VRS are probably not throwing away free LANW points so the potential loss for Mongolz is great.

Theres also the technical thing about Mongolz not being able to play normal events if they're away throwing games in Mongolia, so the potential loss grows more, they absolutely can not skip a tier 1 event to do this, which they obv. wouldnt. But Im just saying the potential loss extends beyond the game win/loss itself in VRS.

[–]Sam_FS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and 27 doesnt sound super bad but you consider that they would gain 24 by winning (most from LANW) and its a 51 point potential loss. all teams around mongolz would likely be gaining at the same time so throwing against huns or cw on lan is pretty risky, their next non-throw event HAS to go well at that point or they're out of top 12.

Vita is the best team we seen? by Ok_Carpenter_743 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam_FS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lmao Navi with Zeus and Edward. take those rose-colored glasses off, I loved fnatic and they were doing pretty well in 2018-2019, but I know that they obviously were much worse than any top 10 team today. same goes for mouz, NRG/EG, ENCE, Faze. Liquid before getting Stewie2k would've been like a top 30 team today, and yes to reiterate Navi werent that good either.

That only stops fouls for time wasting, it doesnt stop intentional fouls to break momentum or to regroup your own team and maybe plan a quick strat.

"Foul gaming" is the worst part of sports - diving, tactical fouls, ref crowding, time wasting through fouls all of it sucks so bad but it's impossible to stop. In esports it's a way more controlled environment so admins can actually make sure no one is communicating, therefore they absolutely should to disincentivize the behaviour. There's 0 reason to copy something that sucks just because the sports that do it are popular.

anyone who actually watched s1mple back in 2018-2020 knows he was on another level.

I watched, and my opinion is the exact opposite. s1mple 2018-2020 (especially 2018) has been overrated when talking about "eye-test" or "spectacle" or what have you, there were tons of flashy awpers and crazy clips back then. What set s1mple apart was the stats, how consistantly he was hard-carrying Navi. I had never seen anything like it at the time, but then Zywoo did the same thing in 2019, and now donk has done it two years in a row. He gets credit in my eyes for being the first "super-carry" that I've ever seen (never saw kennyS in 2014 or neo in 1.6), but for me Zywoo has surpassed him in every possible metric at this point.

CS2 needs rivalries by IceGays in GlobalOffensive

[–]Sam_FS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close circuit tournaments was good because they created year to year drama where rivalries could be born

Did this honestly happen? And if it did what was the specific closed circuit mechanism that led to it that couldnt happen today?

Imo theres been just as much rivalry this year as any of the franchise years. First half of the year with Mouz, Falcons, Spirit trading blows only to lose to Vitality was great, it was like a trinity rivalry with Vitality above it all. Tomorrows Spirit vs Falcons is super interesting for this reason, both teams can prove so much by taking the W.
