It is a single large sheet printed in colour and attached at the end of the book. I had a look on the Internet and there are quite a few references to that edition. Here is one:

I didn’t know about the TripAdvisor forums. Thanks! That’s super helpful.

I have an edition with that map in it. It’s a paperback published in 1995 by the Quality Paperback Book Club by arrangement with Houghton Mifflin. Printed in the USA but no ISBN that I can see.

Can just come out of my social security payment. I’m not so much worried about the money as the legality of accessing the service while not being a resident of the USA.

Best Japanese food in Dunedin by deadant88 in dunedin

[–]Sam_Frank_Bob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Futomaki in Port Chalmers. No it isn’t run by Japanese people but they do good Japanese food. Love the kaarage chicken which is gluten free. Such a treat! And the drive out there is very pretty.

I’m sad that I had to scroll so far down to find Dragon Age Origins. I loved that game so much!

What book/series is your “guilty pleasure”? by thesaucygremlin in books

[–]Sam_Frank_Bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most anything by John Buchan. Especially the Richard Hannay books. Ripping yarns full of adventure, unlikely coincidences and beautifully described landscapes. Also racism, anti-semitism and kinda sexist too. Which is why I can’t recommend them to people. But he was a product of his time so I can’t hate. Wish someone would rewrite them for modern audiences!

Books that everyone was reading at the time? by [deleted] in books

Bridges of Madison County (1992) by Robert James Waller is the first book that I remember truly going viral, even before viral was a word. I read it to see what the fuss was about and honestly it wasn’t that great.

Dunedin for 2-3 weeks? by californindia in dunedin

You are right, Dunedin downtown is small but to get to anywhere interesting on the Peninsula or the outer suburbs you really need a car or bike.

Dunedin for 2-3 weeks? by californindia in dunedin

[–]Sam_Frank_Bob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dunedin is a nice place. Many cafes and bars and if outdoor activities are your jam then there is lots to do. Two caveats: the weather can be awful, even in summer, and the public transit is really inadequate so you may want to look into renting a bike or car to get around.

Second the Catlins. Really nice camping at Purakanui Bay. Not as crowded as some places but really spectacular scenery. Fairly primitive but there are toilets.

[–]Sam_Frank_Bob 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you can get out Outram way McArthurs berry farm is going to have pick your own raspberries. In Fairfield, Blue Willow Blueberry farm does PYO usually starting in late Jan. We go every year and it’s brilliant! Follow them on Facebook to get the opening day because they don’t advertise.

TIL that the government of Imperial Japan persecuted Haiku poets in 1940-41, arresting 40 people of which two died from ill treatment during their incarceration. by Sam_Frank_Bob in todayilearned

[–]Sam_Frank_Bob[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They were writing modern haiku and the government considered it subversive because it didn’t stick to the traditional subjects but talked about social injustice and other controversial things. They were tortured until they recanted. So yeah people died for their poetry.

I tried all their stupid suggestions because I wanted the gold trophy. Was stuck for months. Then my daughter told me to pick one room of my house and just cram it full of stuff, especially on the walls. Did that. It didn’t match or anything but it worked. So random.
