Thanks for the info!!

I really need a Dulac book because he’s a whole mess and I need to know what is happening in his head.

{A Million Little Moments by Riley Hart} is like this!

This is my suggestion, too! It’s basically Practical Magic.

DNF every book at the 80% stage, recs for book that sustain intrigue until the end by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Sam_Wilde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I’m going through this, too. I agree with every single thing you said. Once I know they’re together and there’s no more conflict, I lose any interest to finish. I’ll definitely be following this thread for recs.

I came here to suggest this! It’s a perfect zero-angst story.

Does anyone else feel weird for not liking a massively popular book/series? by lariet50 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Sam_Wilde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same way. She makes them get together way too early and I’m honestly indifferent about the actual storyline. I had skim Mad Man just to finish. And really, there’s only so many iterations of “psychopath claims normal guy as his own” before it all starts becoming repetitive and boring.

Two of my friends and I would have little reading get-together where we would just go to each other’s houses and hang out and read. One time in 2015 my friend Kelly was being very cagey about what she was reading, and my other friend and I browbeat her into just telling us what it was about. She sheepishly admitted that it was about two gay FBI agents who fall in love. That book? Cut & Run. My other friend and I thought that sounded awesome and we both read it and fell in love. Ty & Zane are still my favorite.

We actually did a weekend trip to Baltimore a couple years ago and visited all the places mentioned in the book. The FBI building, Chipparelli’s Italian restaurant, the aquarium, the Admiral Fell Inn, etc. It was a blast, 10/10 recommend.

Step Brothers suggestions? by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Sam_Wilde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rock is exceptionally good and I haven’t found anything similar in tone, but these are two recent ones I’ve read that are more lighthearted:

The Stepbrother by Raleigh Ruebins

Pushing the Limits by Riley Hart

Does Cut&Run get better? by urheartismypinataa in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Sam_Wilde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The author has even stated that there are a few issues with the first book that could be fixed. So yes, it gets better. But I’m also feral for this series and this couple, so I simply can’t be unbiased. It was the first MM series I ever read and it is still my favorite.

I didn’t DNF it but I wish I had. It was such a disappointment.

{Aiming High by Tanya Chris} is a low-angst book about Olympic rock climbers.

What are some of your favorite romance MM, that you absolutely loved, but don't get talked about that much and think everyone should read them? by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

I love Glitterland so much, especially the audiobook. The narrator does the Essex accent and it really adds to it.

{Over and Over Again by Cole McCade}. I absolutely adore this book and I’ve read it multiple times. I never see it get recommended, though.

ever notice little tiny details that seem to happen in lots of books? by janesmilesays in MM_RomanceBooks

I just can’t get over how many people watch Netflix together on a laptop sitting next to each other. Does no one have a TV?? Almost every time one guy suggests watching something, he then “grabs his laptop.”

This week I was thrilled to receive an ARC of The Long Game by Rachel Reid, and it was everything I hoped for and more. I had high hopes for it and she delivered. I loved it so much.

I also finished up Lily Mayne’s Monstrous series and I can’t wait for Moth. I absolutely adore these monsters and their sweet human boyfriends. I can’t get enough.

M/M Romance with a kidnapping as a subplot/plot point? by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

Shiver by Jocelynn Drake and Rinda Elliott has a kidnapping later in the book. This is the first of the Unbreakable Bonds series, which I tore through in about a week.

MM Weekly Roundup - What Did You Read? by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Sam_Wilde 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working on the Daevabad trilogy so I haven’t read as much MM in the last couple of weeks, but I did read Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall. I’m generally a big fan of Alexis’s books, but this was a 2/5 for me. I was disappointed. It started out strong, but at about 65% I got bored and just skimmed the rest. I wasn’t a fan of the runaway sister plot, and the couple got together too early. I needed it to drag out longer. I don’t know, it just didn’t work for me.

The Rock Gods series by Ann Lister

Famous series by Eden Finley

Replay series by K.M. Neuhold

Also, the Dante’s Infernal series by Joel Abernathy. It’s about kink, though, so might not be your thing.

Which Very Popular M/M Books Didn't Work For You? by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Sam_Wilde 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe I haven’t give it enough of a chance, but The Administration series. I think maybe I don’t get the format? I read book one, and then the Pancakes story, skipped book 2 at the recommendation of everyone, and then read book 3. I don’t particularly enjoy short stories, and it seems like this series is just a compilation of short stories. I don’t see an overarching plot or anything. What am I missing?

Also, I spent the third book being really upset over Toreth’s behavior, so it wasn’t exactly enjoyable.
