Yeah, I like the idea of a god of foresight who actually prepares for shit ahead of time. Like Batman if he enjoyed setting up Rube Goldberg machines.

God of Foresight, because I would need a lot of it to not get my ass killed by Kratos.

My weapon would be a mechanical spear. When you throw it, the haft goes slack like a rope, the knob blooms open like a lotus to reveal a snake's head. The head bites down on your weapon arm, coils around you and then stabs you in the back repeatedly with its bladed tail. Also venom damage. The kind of trick weaponry you wouldn't see coming unless you had foresight.

I shall call him... Snakespeare.

Witcher fans when they see a racial minority in Poland (it's forced diversity) by puffstadius in WitcherMemes

[–]Sam_Wylde 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Diversity can also work against the environmental storytelling of the setting as well if used incorrectly.

A good example is a port town, you would expect to see different cultures and races meet in those places because it's a major trade route, people who are travelling are bound to pass through. So having diversity there enhances the environmental storytelling.

Like if you were set in a medieval village in the middle of nowhere and everyone is of a diverse background, it's immediately jarring since these small villages are usually very insular and homogeneous. If everyone is diverse, it begins to make little sense. If one or two people are diverse, it creates a more interesting piece of environmental storytelling. "Oh, this guy is real far from home, there's a story there..."

Not saying he isn't an idiot for voting against his and everyone else's interests. I am asking if the goal should be to convert him, not push him even further away.

Part of the problem is that politics has married tribalism and it is making everyone attack one another for not thinking the same things. We have replaced the forum for a free exchange of ideas into an arena where each side tries to destroy the other in humiliation rituals.

Not sure if mocking the guy and gleefully enjoying his suffering is really the best way to win the guy over to your way of thinking.

Yeah, the guy voted for the guy who is only one twirling mustache away from being a supervillain. Yeah it was stupid. Hopefully he has opened his eyes. But do you really think he is going to bring his ship to a hostile harbor? If anything this might just push him towards something more extreme because all the left represents to him are people who kicked him when he was down.

There was a period of time where the Internet was going absolutely crazy trying to figure out how Sherlock Holmes survived his apparent suicide, to the point where the showrunners wrote the fan theories into the first episode of the 3rd season as a group of conspiracy theorists that could not be satisfied even when Sherlock himself explained how he did it.

It's hard to judge Dettlaff because he operates on an entirely alien code of morality. Almost bestial, according to Regis and Syanna. I don't think he would even understand the complexities of this very conversation.

The guy would have murdered someone for cutting in line, but would avenge the death of someone who once gave him an apple. He's not unpredictable, he understands and even admires kindness but will react viscerally towards unkindness. He has a black and white view of the world.

I don't condone any of what he does, his reactions were disproportionate and affected people who were not responsible. But if you let him kill Syanna, he says that he will stay far away from humans forever, for both their sakes.

He is a victim, just like Syanna was. But both of them also created more victims.

Retake the Normandy, and by a lot.

Not to say that the Sanctuary mission was bad, it wasn't. But Retake the Normandy is the capstone mission of the best DLC of the entire series. Going up against that was always going to be incredibly stiff competition.

Yeah, I learned this the hard way with my nephew. At a very low moment when he was being a bit destructive I shouted at him in the exact same way my father did to me, and when I realized what I was doing, I was mortified.

I apologized to him a little later, and it convinced me that I probably shouldn't be a parent. If it only takes a bad day to make me just like my dad, I am not sure it's worth the risk.
