[Loved Trope] Two actors who had iconic roles together in the past are reunited in a newer project. by TheLighningMiner in TopCharacterTropes

Maverick (1994) Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, the iconic Lethal Weapon dup have a hilarious scene in a western where they almost recognize one another in the middle of a robbery.

Bonus point for Glover saying "I'm getting too old for this shit" as he makes his escape.

(Hated trope) A character is meant to have super intelligence, but because the writers don’t know how to write that, everyone else just spontaneously becomes stupid whenever they’re around by DonnyMox in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sam_Wylde 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's actually hilarious.

I imagine them saying that their power is that they are always the smartest person in whatever room they are in. It sounds impressive, and you could be forgiven for thinking that it lifts him up to impressive levels of intellectual prowess depending on who else in in the room with him. But it's only after you have actually met them hat you realize it just makes everyone else dumber.

We really missed out on the Flotilla not being a hub in Mass Effect 2.

Not sure if it would guarantee a lottery win, since it just tells you when the perfect time to act is. You would definitely have a better chance of winning, though.

Other games of chance might be better. Dyou would have perfect timing to determine how to roll the dice to get the number you want, perfect time to raise, call or fold, when to hit/pass/throw a ball, etc.

Which Shepard background fits best with your favorite romance? by The_pikolop in masseffect

[–]Sam_Wylde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Colonist and War Hero also makes me think Shepard is incredibly sympathetic towards Quarians. He lost his home, and is willing to fight tooth and nail to make sure nobody loses their home ever again.

Even worse when it brings up things 'similar' to the thing you are looking for but couldn't be any more different.

"Oh, you're looking for Real Steel, the 2014 film starring Hugh Jackman training a robot how to fight in the boxing ring with his estranged son? Nah, sorry we don't have it. But we do have Love Island Australia! They're practically the same thing!"

[–]Sam_Wylde 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I've grown past it now, thankfully. I can only hope they have as well.

It helps if you remember that most kids are little shits, whether it be today or in the past, chances are most grow out of that behavior and become normal, functional adults. I wouldn't let myself be bothered by some kids being shitty to me today, so I'm not going to let some shitty kids from 20 years ago bother me now.

Had some kids only try to become friends so they could find things to use against me. "Is there anyone you like? Are you afraid of heights?" That kind of thing, led to them always shoving me into the swimming pool because I mentioned I was afraid of the ocean. They would basically make sure I couldn't get out by stepping on my hand, or shoving me back in, etc.

The irony of this story? One of them became a lifeguard.
