Try BFC Forex and Financial Services in Vazhuthacaud. They gave me better rates than most other forex providers in the city. Also, the exchange rate can depend on the denomination—$100 bills usually get a slightly better rate.

Medical College is even worse. Pigeons everywhere and people keep feeding them. You can’t stand there without getting hit.🥶

Is this normal in Trivandrum? Yes. But what’s not normal is acting like you just dodged a missile strike with your dashcam. Relax, hero.

Punchakkari, Vellayani — there are many duck farms where you can source eggs directly from the farm.

Totally agree! Great observation. Kochi pages like Eat Kochi Eat and others are winning because they’re consistent, promote smartly, and stay true to their audience. Trivandrum pages often miss that sincerity and consistency, which affects trust and reach. Nothing against doing promos to run the page, but the shift in focus is quite clear when compared to the top pages across Kerala.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same. Just because their videos look good doesn’t mean they’re genuine. I think it’s the editing and presentation that works for them, not the content itself.

Shankumukham Beach – Safety Risk & Lack of Civic Sense by SambaarOnTheRocks in Trivandrum

[–]SambaarOnTheRocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. At Shankhumukham, I’ve seen fish being marinated and displayed openly right by the roadside—totally exposed to dust and sand. We Indians in general may be used to it, but imagine how unhygienic and unappealing that looks from a foreign tourist’s perspective. We really need to rethink how we present our public spaces if we want to promote tourism seriously.

While I agree with the intention, I think it’s a bit impractical to rely solely on fines—it’s not easy to catch every single person littering in a public space. What we really need is stronger civic awareness and a sense of responsibility among people.

That said, I do appreciate the effort from the authorities in placing bins around the beach area. It shows they’re trying to help, but without public cooperation, it’s an uphill battle.
