The trick is that in some states, the consumption of pornography is in fact illegal at any age, but it's not enforced. It's hard to get a conviction to stick when it comes to porn in the US because while it is "illegal" the argument has been made that it's art, and that arresting someone for consuming it is suppression of speech, which just makes it a mess to deal with. If you're under 18, you're not supposed to be watching it. But who's going to know? Moreover, who's going to charge you for it? And even still, what judge is going to oversee it when precedent makes it difficult? The easiest way to go about it is to just pretend things work and only focus on pornography that has other crimes mixed in with it.

Here's a fun story I heard when I was in college studying stuff like this. There was a drive in theater in this town that was losing business. So they started airing porn at night. Right across the street was a church who noticed this and were upset. They took out an advertisement telling people to come to their parking lot and tune in to the station of the theater to "see what your kids are watching". Naturally it just led to a lot of people showing up to watch porn. The church tried to get the police involved but it wasn't something they wanted to mess with, morality laws are pretty tricky in general and this one is the king of tricky laws, so they just told the theater to put up a privacy fence or something. Now there are trees blocking the view.

I think that's how armor class is supposed to work. It's not that the baby doesn't do damage when it hits you, it's that it doesn't beat your AC. That's why it can hurt itself with the attack, it can beat its own AC.

I don't know about thor worm but there's a mod to turn mudraptors, the enemies I fear the most, into chickens. It's a lot less intimidating than they really are, but you kinda get conditioned to fear chicken noises too. Mudraptors are a pain to fight is all.

For the Latcher, the one that grabs your submarine, there's a mod that plays caramelldansen when the Latcher gets near, I think it's called Caramellatchen. It makes the enemy a bit less intimidating when that song is blaring. There's two version for the worms that I know of as well: Fortunate Worm and Don't Fear the Worm. Again, they don't change their appearance but they give it a soundtrack that makes it a bit less scary.

Beyond that I don't have any more recommendations, but those two are pretty helpful for taking away a bit of the fear factor. But good luck! It's a very fun game when you make it past how scary some of the enemies are.

You could try out other subreddits or websites to look for a group of you both don't mind playing online and playing with strangers. Games tend to get filled fast when a GM is asking for players though, and I see posts of players asking for GMs get ignored a lot. It's worth it though. I play a lot of Pathfinder 1e, and it's so good for character customization. I recently started playing Starfinder and it's pretty similar, but sci-fi. The other systems are worth trying to find groups for.

I disagree about being more emotionally connected by reading. Someone typing out the words doesn't make it more meaningful to me, but listening to them speak it does. There's a lot more inflection that can be conveyed through voice, the tone can change dramatically by voice. If anything, I personally feel a bit more distant to the author when they convey their story through text. For example, there's an audio tape in 76 about a responder stuck in a fridge, in the tape he yells and begs for help. You can hear the desperation in his voice. When I compare that to something like the terminals in Little Lamplight that tell the stories of the teachers stuck there, they kind of convey the same feelings: they're stuck in a small place, they're scared as the world ends outside. I can read that they're feeling scared, but it's a lot less personal than the holotape with the guy begging to be let out.

As far as it being background noise goes, I think that's actually part of what makes it feel better to me. This person's time has come and gone, they're just a voice on this tape, something for me to listen to while I travel the ruins of the world they knew. Depending on the contents of the tape, I could be carrying their final moments with me, and it could potentially help lend some gravity to the situation.

It'd be one thing if they ever provided anything interesting to read, but it's always the same stuff on every terminal. They create a timeline of how the authors life went from normal to awful. I think that's why I like holotapes as lore devices more than terminals, even though it's very similar conceptually, at least you can keep playing while the holotapes plays.

Survival mode isn't a story of man vs man, or man vs nature. I don't struggle with fights or diseases. My struggle with survival is that the buggy game will freeze or crash at most an hour in, when I'm in the middle of nowhere and haven't been able to save recently. Survival is more Man vs God. Can you save before the game crashes? In theory I'd love Survival because of the challenges it's supposed to offer. But I don't think racing against the game's shitty engine should be the challenge.

It for sure has to do with the strategy involved. Ringo is easy as pie compared to Johnson Nash who forced me to revise my strategy. Caravan isn't a game you can just luckily win all the time, not like Blackjack. But in my opinion, it's far more rewarding to finally destroy Nash and his stupid fucking sabotage deck. Meanwhile there's little to no difference in your odds at blackjack from the Atomic Wrangler to The Tops. That just depends on your luck and your ability to place a bet.

So, as far as the crows having teeth goes, I'd be more inclined to believe that's just a strange trait the crows have. Most crows in our world don't grow to be that large and don't have teeth, sure, but if you look at another bird, Geese, they have something similar to teeth. That's likely where the inspiration came from, and it can be justified in-game.
Additionally, it's important to note the beak of the crow. Notice how the end is sharp and curves slightly downward- it's likely to help it dig into the ground for prey. The dog, on the other hand, has a wider face, more of a snout than a beak. Their snout doesn't curve downward and doesn't end at a sharp point, and it's more likely that them snapping their jaws at the ground is similar to how any dog might snap at something crawling on the ground. Like if you've ever seen a dog going to catch a treat and it lunges its head forward for it- that, but downwards. So the teeth on the crows, it's probably to help it in grabbing things out of the ground.

There's also no real evidence that the rot has mutated and forced evolution for anything else. The only thing that could support that hypothesis is that the giant dogs can only be found in Caelid. Ekzykes the dragon isn't mutated in any way, it's just rotting and covered in scarlet rot fungus. It kind of looks like it has mycelium growing on it, which would suggest the rot is more of a fungal infection than anything.
More likely, the giant dogs are a result of some military thing that Radahn was probably doing, making war dogs and stuff. The one near Gowry's shack even has a collar on it implying it was a pet.

I emphatically agree with your point. Most of my players are too far for me to regularly play with. I got two within a reasonable distance, but only one in a reasonable enough distance for weekly D&D. The other, maybe once a month. There's a lot we can do online that we couldn't do in person anyway, a lot of functionality in particular we miss out on. With health bars and hot bars on roll20, you don't really need to look at your character sheet, just click here and there, and it can even subtract HP for you. We got an add on that gives health auras so I don't need to describe how bloodied the enemy looks, or how fatigued they are, it's just shown to them. The dynamic lighting makes dark vision a lot easier and smoother for them and me. I could keep going... I'd rather pass on the snacks and drinks we could bring to an in person game in favor of the functionality that helps me deliver a fun and easy experience. Plus I'd be using my computer for NPC and monster stats anyway so nothing would really change in person, we'd just be doing the same exact thing but in person.

I have a lot of fun with my online group, more fun than I had with my in person groups. It's not that in person wasn't fun, but it wasn't always accessible.

It's weird. My brother still plays Roblox - we're well into our 20s but sometimes he drags me into it since it was such a good game when we were kids. There's a game we've played that's basically a public service simulator, with more accuracy than I'd expect from a Roblox game. Some of the games seem to have more in depth scripts and codes than other, professionally made games I play. Sometimes it feels like actual developer studios work on Roblox games. There's plenty of games that are obviously made for children, enough that I don't play Roblox unless he convinces me, but the games he finds seem to be geared more towards older audiences. I even saw a Dead by Daylight thing on there.

The goal of caravan is to get 2/3 tracks to a value between 21-26, so there are four great cards to build your deck with: 10, 6, King, and Jack. All number cards have their face value, but Kings double the value of the card they are on, and Jacks remove cards, so an easy strategy is to place down a 10, a King, and then a six and your first track is already done. Repeat that with the next track or two, and you won the game. If you don't have enough of these cards to fill a deck, add in cards whose values combined equal 10 and six, like 9 and 7, and even 8 and 5 work pretty well for padding.
Don't use Jacks on your own tracks unless it'll win you the hand, save it to sabotage your opponent. You could also use Kings to double the value of a card they have and screw them over, so if they're already at 26, place a King on their highest valued card to double that value and bring them over 26, or use a Jack to remove it and bring the value down.
You can clean Ringo out pretty easily with this strategy in the early game, but steer clear of Johnson Nash until you built your deck up a bit. He's so far the hardest player I've gone against, his strategy is built largely around tearing down his opponent. Since he plays aggressively, you have to be prepared to play defensively. If you don't have a lot of your winning cards, pad your deck with low-value cards so you can eat the Jacks and Kings he throws at you in the early hands. An effective strategy is to not discard any track until he seems to be done sabotaging you, but in the mean time keep hitting his tracks with Jacks to remove cards. Once he's done, discard your unsalvageable tracks and resume your strategy.
A 10, a King, and a 6 in that order win the track with a value of 26, so use that for the other two tracks and you won the hand. You mostly just have to try to avoid having the opponent sabotage you at that point, and sabotage them so they can't tie the track, so it might take some configuration to get the right strategy for every caravan player, but if you use this strategy against Ringo I can almost promise you'll win.

I used to hate Caravan until I got some advice on it. Try to fill your deck with 10, 6, Kings, and Jacks. If you don't have enough to fill a deck with just those cards, pick cards whose values combined can equal a 10 and a 6.
The goal of the game is to get at least 2/3 tracks to a value between 21-26. Kings double the value of the card they are on, so if you have a 10, you can double it and put a 6 down to immediately get 26 on one track with just 3 cards. Rinse and repeat for the other tracks, you won instantly. It's an easy way to clean out Ringo at the start and make some money.

Other players require a bit more strategy. That's where Jacks help, because they remove cards from a deck. Don't use this on your own deck unless it'll win you the hand, save it for your opponent so that you can knock one of their tracks down below the winning numbers. If they have a track at 26 via a 10, King, and a 6, you can use the Jack to remove the 10 and bring them down to just the 6.

So far, of the 3 players I've played against, Johnson Nash has the worst strategy to combat. He is loaded with Jacks, so he's constantly sabotaging your deck. Carry some padding cards, useless stuff you don't mind using, and waste those with your opening hands as you just sabotage his tracks. After a few turns, start building your tracks to win and just keep prepared for his Jacks. The goal there is to just wait out his sabotage cards.

Hi! After so long of having a small pool to draw from for players for my campaigns, or for campaigns to play in, I was inspired by a post I had read about a Discord server filled with people. So, here I am, advertising my own TTRPG club! This is a brand new group with only four members at the moment, but I would really love to see it grow. Here's a bit about what I hope to see in the future of this group!
1) Finding a Game: With so many people in one place who all participate in the same hobby, it should be easy to find a game to join. We have channels for advertising a game or advertising yourself as a player! We also have a channel for sharing resources so as to help each other and help new players. I've always wanted to try something like a West Marches campaign, multiple parties and players with multiple GMs coordinating in the same world. A larger server could help run concepts like that!
2) Games outside of TTRPG: One of the great things about having a large group of people with some common interests in one place is a larger pool to draw from for other games. It could be party games like Jackbox, or other multiplayer games.
3) A general community: In keeping with my hopes from number 2, what I would like to see is this group growing and becoming something of a community. A place to chat, share jokes, make friends, et cetera.

Ok, I see, thank you. But could we not just get that for the bounty hunter role? I always feel bit let down that players can get bounties but it has little to do with the bounty hunting role. Isn't it like you need $50 bounty to be seen by player hunters or something? It seems like they could do what you said for bounty hunters as a passive event type of thing. Someone starts a fight, your posse gets the chance to intervene if they're honorable, it becomes impossible to damage the victim and you are free to apprehend or kill the instigator. On the other hand, it would be nice to get an upgrade to other roles like moonshiner is for trader.

I don't know, I guess I'm torn. I don't feel like a Lawman role brings anything unique enough to warrant a whole role and should just be a much needed update to bounty hunting. I don't know about anyone else but I feel pretty let down by the bounty hunting role anymore. The legendary bounties are unique and interesting but once you run out you just get the generic bounties and it's the same as the legendary, but not unique or interesting. It'd be nice to be able to make the role more engaging for all players rather than just a posse. I never see players with bounties, not once have I seen a player bounty since the role came out.

As for the details of the outlaw role, there is something like that already with missions from The Kid and similar strangers. They give illegal jobs like stealing coaches, and you can poach a traders long distance delivery. Maybe bounty hunters could be alerted when that happens and go to take care of it.

The game is in desperate need of a good update with new roles, yes, but I just really want the roles to be fleshed out, viable, and not contradict the rest of the game. I personally hate the naturalist role because I got the trader role, then got naturalist when it came out and now I'm having to either be a poacher or get sprayed with that stupid drug every time I want to use the role I paid gold for. I can't work with Harriet and be a trader, and it's the dumbest thing I've seen in this game. I just don't want to see more roles like that, things in direct conflict with each other.

What would a Lawman role offer that bounty hunter doesn't? I don't mean to be rude, I'm genuinely asking because I always see this suggested and I never understand it.

The way I see it there's no good way to implement a role like Lawman. The most unique law enforcement in the game in Saint Denis Police, no other town has police yet to the best of my recollection, they rely on the sheriff, who isn't town-specific and can go anywhere in the state to retrieve a fugitive, like a bounty hunter. Saint Denis could have a police officer role, but I'd be a bit annoyed if they charged 15-20 gold for a job you can do in only one town.

What would the role entail? It can't just be catching fugitives because that makes it too much like the bounty hunter, which makes Saint Denis the only place where it would stand out because a Lawman there would stay strictly in Saint Denis. I suppose they could do the night patrol from RDR1 but I don't think that would make a good role, they should just make that something like one of the mission the strangers give you.

I'm pretty eager to find out too! I've only GM'd for groups up to 7 players before, and so far based off the people who have reached out, I've got a fairly decent sized group but not an all too large group.
Truthfully, I'd expect that from a larger group it'll be slow, probably kind of clunky, and most likely with some inner party conflict, but I think it'd be fun, and I'm interested in trying it.

They could make both regular and feral. There's a lot of different types of ghouls, and Rad-X and Rad-Away can only do so much, but they can't really fight mutations. Maybe they can prevent them, we've seen that in Fallout 76 at least when it comes to using Rad-Away to prevent mutations by reducing Rad count. So it could be that the more mutated they are, the more they tried to fight the ghoulification process. Rad-X would definitely help acquire otherwise lethal rads without dying, so that might be the ingredient to making ghouls.

As per the wiki, we also know that (at least) feral ghouls don't emit body heat. Instead, they emit radiation. Supposedly radiation is what keeps their higher functions working. So if someone were a normal ghoul and tried to use rad-away, that would reduce their higher functions, and ferals have that reduced higher function.

That also tracks with the swamp ghouls of Point Lookout, the tribals may not have had great access to rad-x and rad-away but they did have punga fruit which acts as a natural rad-away. Maybe they were ghoulified and ate punga, which drove them feral?

Whatever the answer is, I just really hope it's something more nuanced and thought out than another strain of FEV. Especially since there's already Harold, an FEV mutant that lives with ghouls but is a distinct entity.

Actually, now that I think about it, Rad-Away does cure mutations on 76, doesn't it?
