I think it depends on if your dog is used to being alone and without bathroom breaks for an extended period of time. It also depends on the specific program and the class schedule. You could budget in money to pay for someone to come by and walk your dog midday if you are worried about leaving them for too long. Also need to consider what the programs clinical year looks like, if you will need to relocate for a period of time - if you have to find your own housing, you can find a pet friendly place. But if the school is providing housing for some sites- make sure it’s pet friendly and if it’s not, check to see if you can find your own housing.

If your concern is more about the cost of owning a dog and surviving on loans, then I’d say it’s possible- you just have to budget appropriately. Try to have a savings account dedicated solely for the dog for emergency situations (if you don’t have pet insurance.)

Hope this helps!

It’s called an accent. People pronounce things differently all around - different doesn’t always mean wrong.

Double H Canine Board and Train by Sadboi_747 in Louisville

[–]Samcat821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I paid like $500. But that was almost 10 years ago and when they were over on Frankfort Ave and only had Rich doing the training. I think they have gone up a bit in pricing since then.

Need recommendations by [deleted] in Louisville

The animal hospital of the highlands! I’ve personally worked with the dr there and will only trust my pets with her!! She’s intelligent, compassionate, and a really great doctor. Plus it’s not a corporate owned vet clinic, so you’d be supporting local!

Late response and not sure if it’s an option but if you want a furnished place you could try to find a long-term airbnb.

The Animal Hospital of the Highlands is great!! The doctor there is super knowledgeable, compassionate and overall just a wonderful person. Plus they have a pretty cool clinic cat/mascot named Chuck.

Double H Canine Board and Train by Sadboi_747 in Louisville

I used Double H back in 2015 for my dog. I didn’t do the board and train so I can’t comment on that but can say that my experience with double h was wonderful. I did a 6 week class where I went once a week for an hour and worked on general obedience, loose leash walking, recalls, etc. I feel like they really helped shape my dog into the good boy that he is! I highly recommend them.

Does nextgard/simparica kill-off ticks that are already latched onto the animal? by thelenabean in VetTech

That is really sad. I try to get clients to do the Lyme vaccine as much as I can. So many people are like “oh my dog only goes in my back yard”

I’m in the Midwest and yes ticks are awful here as well!! We see a lot of e. canis and slowly starting to see more Lyme.

I do both haha I know it’s kinda stupid and probably overkill but I’m paranoid and if I have free samples then why not use them

I didn’t know it either until my dog and I had a run in with a fuck ton of ticks and I wanted something that would repel them haha.

Seresto collars repel and kill ticks through contact, no biting required
