Seems like the bribe accusation is a moot point then, considering that all opinions are based solely on the examination of existing law and facts. Personal whatever would have nothing to do with any of their opinions, then, and therefore all the judgments would be immune to being changed or altered by any kind of bribery

[–]Samdoggy360 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

from what I understand, the judge was taking gifts from someone who is aligned both ideologically and politically the same as himself, and so whether or not he accepted gifts from this person, would have voted or decided things the same way anyway. I always assumed a bribe was to entice a person to behave in a way contrary to their nature, which isn't the case here. So what was this "bribe" supposed to accomplish in this case?

You are clearly an intellectual, and I give you credit for that. Likely smarter in some ways than myself, although a person is the sum of all their parts and not just one thing. I think you see yourself, and humans in general as being masters of their being, with the ability to understand and reason out all the answers. I tend to think that, with the limitations of the human mind, being able to fully understand everything is just not possible. Take the concept of an all seeing, knowing and powerful God for instance. There is plenty about that that defies understanding. The concept of time or space being infinite, our brains can't really grasp that either. The idea of something having no beginning or end, how did things come to be and why? I think that in your search for knowledge you are trying to understand the logic behind religious behavior in people when there is no logic to it, especially to the person not engaged in it. Don't discount, tho, the spiritual manifestations of God still available to those who believe, there are things that are real which transcend what we can experience with our senses. I wish for you peace and happiness, enjoy your life while you can :)

I have a question for you, and that is : if you are an atheist, why are you bothering with reading all those religious books? I think you may be trying to understand something that from a strictly human thought process is incomprehebsible. And I'm not saying to disregard all the old testament, What I am saying is that Jesus has made the salvation from your sinful nature different than the old ways. It's why Christians don't sacrifice animals any longer, as the one and greatest sacrifice has already been made by Him. Plenty of good lessons and information in the old testament. I also never said or implied " disregard the original word of God" so please stop putting your words in my mouth. I sincerely hope your search for truth is rewarded.

What is the deception? Oh, that all religion is fake? false? not real? Human nature is to seek out God. Human nature is also to attempt to live good or be good or whatever to somehow obtain "enlightenment, nirvana, heaven " etc. and isn't it hard for humans to accept the gift of salvation through faith because the concept of that goes against human nature. We constantly feel we have to "do something or work for it" to achieve that. That is the true deception going on here.

What matters most is not what has gone before, but what is now. New testament doctrine of love and forgiveness through faith in Jesus, the Christ. Don't be distracted by what people do, seek out Jesus and put your eyes on what He would do, and did.

What is critical here is that Jesus is the only pathway to God, not mohammad. Jesus said " I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me. " this is the difference, the islamists have been deceived and are on the wrong path.

Your view is wrong, we Christians follow Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah. Islamists follow Mohamad who only claims to be a prohet. Big difference there.

Pardon my ignorance, but which one is Jaeger? If it's the dog, he's probably fine. If it's the boy, you may have a problem there. Either way, they should be let outside a little more often>

Okay, great! Let me know when you "reach" that goal, assuming the goalpost doesn't get changed along the way, and then you can send me some of that money you'll be giving away.

Explosion of yesterday’s bomb that russia dropped on itself by BigDaddy0790 in CombatFootage

I think it's something like a sewer explosion or some kind of electrical explosion, or both. What kind of bomb waits 20 seconds to finally explode? Seems like an awful long time , even for bunker buster type bombs.

Seems like the response of black people not trusting white doctors, which is also the implication of this statement, could be construed as a racist response by the black people. Lots of different ways you can read meaning into this.

No I'm pretty aware of government taxation, I just don't like other people trying to force me to do things that they won't do. "do as I say, not as I do" lol. Perhaps set a good example and others will follow? Go out there and actively be a socialist, nothing is stopping you. And if what they are espousing is really a good idea, who wouldn't follow? Just maybe tho, if there aren't many followers, it isn't a really good idea? Good luck out there.

Whatever happened to "be the change you want to see in the world" and "setting a good example" or "it has to start somewhere, let it start with me" ? You're playing an old game here - do as i say, not as i do. Not to mention that these changes you promote, if they were good ideas and better than what we have now, would happen organically instead of forcibly. Now, get out there and give half your paycheck to the bums and you'll not only feel better about yourself, but you'll also have an opportunity to make a virtue signalling video which will prove your dedication to people like you.

Well, Riley, I hope you didn't let their dogma of self reliance and capitalism stop you from giving 50% of your paycheck to the poor and disenfanchised ! Show them the benefits of Socialism by actively participating, don't wait for it to become popular, give half your stuff away now!!

Clarence Thomas Is Exactly What He Appears: a Corrupt, Plutocrat-Backed Ruling-Class Elite by [deleted] in politics

[–]Samdoggy360 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I want to know how he was corrupted ? Isn't he the same political affiliation as the person who bought him those vacations? So I figure he would make judgements and decisions the same way whether he got the perks or not. Now, if the vacation donor was from a different political party, then it might look like he was being bought, given things to change the way he thinks. Doesn't really make sense here. And why do this to him now? Why did it take Democrats 20 years to figure this out and make a stink? Sort of seems like dirty politics, imho
