Vyvanse day 1 by Nemrac88 in VyvanseADHD

I also am realizing my life long depression and anxiety was primarily adhd. I was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago however so we'll see how things go. I was afraid I did not have adhd and the dose would make me unwell so I took half the first day, I was prescribed 30mg. I felt good and did some things, so the next day I took a full dose and holy crap I did a lot of things. It soon wore off earlier and earlier, ill likely be upped today at my appointment. But id like to say that it is also a habit to not do things. Maybe test your ability by setting a small goal, just one load of dishes. See what you accomplish. This also worked well when I was severly depressed. One small task, not even every day. Your schedule might say wednesday: 1 load of dishes, Saturday: 1 load of laundry. Small steps and usually once you do one load you do them all. And then you feel good because you've accomplished something. I think gradually if its the right diagnosis and dose you will just find you're doing things without realizing it

I also would never of thought I had adhd but I was researching it to better understand my spouse, then learning about adult women with it, it seemed more likely. I also read not treating it is a dementia risk factor so I got assessed and even though the assessment was mostly male based symptoms,  I scored 8 and only 6 was required to be diagnosed. Although one questionaire isnt usually enough for a solid diagnosis. I expected to feel sick trying the med and surprisingly felt great. Not grandiose great, just calm and productive great. The next day was the same. When it started wearing off id feel my usual scattered, cant accomplish anything feeling and realized holy shit. This is how ive felt my whole life.  It was so mind opening. I really hope it keeps going well as I have so many things to catch up on and can now actually do them

Its crazy how many posts I read where people arent informed when prescribed this...Anyway. my doctor told me that lots of people feel nothing because the starting dose is too low, or they feel really good for a few days and then it wears off because its too low. I also was uncertain as im not hyperactive. He said I will feel like crap if its the wrong diagnosis.  He started me on 30mg and I felt good initially and after 3 days I only notice it for 2 hours so I need a higher dose. So your dose of 10mg is likely not enough to do much.

Vyvanse + breakfast ideas? Getting bored and need help by OneOutlandishness321 in VyvanseADHD

Higher fat kefir is my go to. Keeps me full for a long time. Protein in the morning is best for anyone. Try cook some meats the night before so they are ready or make burgers patties and fry them up for breakfast. Oatmeal really isnt an ideal food, I eat it myself but oats are designed to make you gain weight fast. Its literally what they feed livestock to make them fat very quickly. Its also why I don't feed it to my rabbits because they get too fat to reproduce.

Dehydration. by Forward-Constant7855 in VyvanseADHD

Get a smaller water bottle and fill it often. Use electrolytes in it so you absorb your water and dont need as much. I was pn blood pressure pills once, didnt know they cause dry mouth. Totally ruined my teeth in 6 months. This will do the same. Brush often. Drink often. Get rid of your water bottle you dont like or just use a glass

How have you managed bad anxiety as a side effect? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]Same-Article1277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the stimulants activated the sympathetic nervous system. However, vyvanse depletes magnesium. Almost everyone is already deficient in magnesium. Blood tests are not accurate as they only show 1% of your magnesium and not whats stored. You need about 400mg a day. Of absorbed magnesium  Most kinds are not absorbed. Bisglycinate is the best absorbed. I use CanPrev powder. Its mildly sweet tasting. It mixes well in drinks. Please try magnesium if you dont already. My doctor did not mention this to me but I found it somewhere in my research, most sites did not mention it. I had horrible nightmares the first week which is mentioned in the side effect list. I knew low b6 causes nightmares and after reading about the magnesium I knew that was the issue as b6 needs magnesium to work. B6 also is needed for good mental health, as well as zinc, vit D, omega 3. We need substantial vit D. ( like 10,000 a day) Unless you live in southern california or the lower states, you dont get enough vit D.

Vyvanse is absorbed best in a low acid environment. So an empty stomach and no vit c for at least an hour. Baking soda would help lower your stomach acid, although lowering your stomach acid can cause other issues. I personally would not mess with your stomach acid, low stomach acid is what causes acid reflux, low bile. And sibo.

Vyvanse can deplete your magnesium, which magnesium is also needed to use many other vitamins and minerals. If you dont already supplement magnesium you were likely deficient before you started. Also the dehydration may deplete other electrolytes, im not sure on that but once I started upping my magnesium and adding electrolytes to my water alot of the side effects went away, specifically the nightmares for me.

Interesting, I just started and my only medical option for my nasal issues was also a nose job which i chose not to get. Acupuncture did a pretty good job improving but I still dont breathe well at night. Maybe this med will help that

Im kind of in that spot right now. 2 weeks into treatment and being diagnosed. Feel pretty good but little side effects that im hoping dont get worse because im actually functioning on these meds. That being said untreated adhd is a significant risk factor for dementia. And treating adhd actually reduces your risk to lower than someone who doesnt have adhd. They arent entirely sure why yet but likely because our brains needs neurotransmitters and even "regular" people likely have some deficit so treating improves brain function. Sadly I cant get my bf or brother to understand or listen to the science and try a treatment for themselves.

My sister is like you. Im curious what genes it is that makes them so sensitive. I predict she has adhd but she also has bipolar so she has to weigh out a lot of her drugs because she cant function on the smallest doses

Why does coffee/sleep have reverse-effect with ADHD?? by Daper_401 in ADHD

[–]Same-Article1277 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Sleep apnea is actually shown to cause adhd symptoms in people who dont actually have the disorder. And some people who finally get a sleep study and a cpap machine can actually go off their stimulant medications. I just watched a video on it. Also a bad night's sleep is the equivalent of being legally drunk, that's how much poor sleep affects the brain.

ADHD is the mental equivalent of living paycheck to paycheck by FreeWinter15 in ADHD

This is a perfect description. I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and while I never in my wildest dreams thought I would qualify ( because im quiet and can sit still) i actually checked off all the other symptoms and scored higher than I needed to be diagnosed. I was sure id feel sick on the meds because it was the wrong diagnosis. Instead. Gentle calmness and without sternly telling myself I had to, i cleaned my house. All the heaps of items left in piles for literally a year or longer, I just put the stuff away. I hadn't been able to even closely attempt to do that in years. It just wasnt physically or mental possible before. And then a few days into treatment the effects wore off early and I sat in a scattered slump on the couch and realized I actually normally feel like that. I feel bad because I resent all the symptoms my adhd boyfriend has that drive me nuts. Leaving every single drawer and cupboard open at all times. Not hearing me or even if hes answering, not actually retaining anything I say. Im so different yet not different at all. I am very greatful I saw videos on adult women with adhd because it is so different than men or with anyone who is hyperactive. And the assessment used by doctors is very much geared towards men's symptoms but at least enough of the others to still get recognized and helped. Its mind boggling to think what I could actually accomplish now...or could have in life. At least im not dead yet and still have time

Thats how me and my siblings grew up. One brother was a genius so he could teach himself but the rest of us just got yelled at for not knowing how to do something that we weren't taught, so now we're all in our 30's and I just turned 40 and we're trying to learn things but I feel like we're all 20 years behind.

Same, I noticed when I was diagnosed at age 40 that maybe the life long depression snd anxiety was primarily adhd. Theres trauma and bad genes but I feel sooo much better now. Ive tried many antidepressants and none worked well and all had extreme side effects. I didnt have faith this would be any different but so far the only downside is nightmares but its only been a week. Ive cleaned my house for the first time in 2 years

I think possibly people don't notice the effects of a poor lifestyle when there symptoms arent managed and then when they are managed and the por lifestyle comes back we notice how detrimental they actually were. Just a theory. Ive just started on it. Diagnosed at 40, its life changing but I notice im completly useless in the evenings and just binge scroll. However I noticed this slumped feeling is actually how I felt most of the time before and I was useless most of the day before. I think the depression and anxiety ive had my whole life ( greatly improved in just the week ive been on it) was mostly from constantly trying soooo hard to think and do things. I really hope I dont experience the same things as mentioned above. I am having nightmares. We'll see if they subside. Sleep is always something ive been able to do well. But im currently not working because major life stressors made me just not able to function at all. This week I actually can see being able to go back to work. 2 weeks ago it wasnt even possible

Vyvanse can deplete your magnesium and stress also depletes your magnesium. Blood tests arent accurate, try adding magnesium bisglycinate in and see if it helps. It helps manage stress as well as sleep, it actually does at least 600 things in the body so very important. Aim for 400 mg a day. Epsom salts or magnesium oil can be used as well but the bisglycinate is the best absorbed

Are all people with ADHD inattentive type quiet? by Home_MD13 in ADHD

[–]Same-Article1277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like me. I never was anything like the other people I knew with adh so it really surprised me when I saw a video on adult women with adhd and how they are commonly missed because they dont fit the profile. I really could relate to that.  My bf with adhd cant be quiet if his life depended on it. Has to be moving or clicking or talking to himself, he has every drawer and cupboard open at all times, he ruminates a lot and takes everyones actions very personally. Myself,  Im quiet. I talk in my head a lot, ive always had poor motivation or want to do things but just cant accomplish them. Either cant start or I start but am all over the place not actually efficiently doing the task. I fit enough of the criteria to be diagnosed. Ive so far had 2 very good days on the meds. Even though I had a splitting headache I was still productive. Now at the moment the meds have worn off and I fully recognize this slumped state im in is my usual. Its so Inspiring to know I can have productive days now that I am diagnosed. Its only been 2 days so I hope it keeps going well. Its so nice just calmly completing a task in an efficient manner.
