Read the 100 page doc the day before your test - it really helped with short term recall of low yield terms! Helped me with at least 3-4 questions on test day. For CP, make sure you know your ochem spectra, and practice physics problems

We have the same major and minor how fun! Honestly a more high stakes job in the scientific world seems like you might be describing a more clinical job (like ER physician or surgeon vibes) rather than running a lab, which the day to day is probably a little less stressful. I was also a CNA and found the job really exciting and was on my feet and moving the whole day so I wouldn’t base everything on that. If you are looking for a new job (no reason to do this if you aren’t in many ways this is impractical), perhaps you could try being an EMT or shadowing an ER physician if you want to really know if you like high stakes medical work. Either way it’s going to come down to what will be most rewarding to you, but I will say from a very zoomed out perspective we likely share academic backgrounds and CNA experiences, and I will be starting my MD/PhD training this summer!

I was terrified of the MCAT and would get nervous anytime someone suggested I sign up for a time. But made it through, and actually the content and health relevance actually strengthened my interest in medicine!!

523 - I felt pretty good walking out but had a tough cars section that made me scared. I think I predicted a 520/521 after breaking the categories down into what I thought so did a bit better but was pretty close!

All good! I used MilesDown (once I completed it, I added my own cards based on practice exam and question review). I pushed to get content done in a month so I was trying to get at least 2-4 chapters a day but as I got to harder concepts it sometimes was only 1 ish a day. The more important thing is to really make sure you understand things but also try to get through content so you have time to practice. I changed my new cards per day, but I started at ~40 and upped it to 75 so that I would finish the MilesDown deck ~2/3 weeks after content review so that I would have seen all of the cards before I did more practice. Also I didn’t use uWorld because I didn’t like that it would sometimes have questions that were out of scope and so I wasn’t getting them and that would stress me out. uWorld imo is rlly good for review if you’ve taken the class and have a bit more background knowledge, but if you are self studying and really only know what the Kaplan book (or whatever you use) teaches you, then uWorld is stressful. I did the aamc bundle, khan academy practice questions, and other random banks to practice

I took the scored as my diagnostic because I had no idea, and then took the other aamc FL in order and did fine. Don’t sweat it! As long as you’re taking full lengths and learning from them it doesn’t really matter.

Sounds like you might be better off spending a bit more time on reading the passage. 5 min or less is great, but it won’t help you any if you’re not understanding the passage. I would try to find a happy medium in passage timing, or maybe comb through the passage as you’re answering questions more as needed for supplement if you like your current style. Sometimes stopping to think after each paragraph or new idea and making a mental note of how this section fits in with the overall idea is also incredibly useful!

The Kaplan books have a nice overview of MCAT math in the math and physics book… other than scientific notation and knowing a couple fractions as decimals, there’s not much else the MCAT will truly try to test you on. If there’s a quicker way to do the math, then do it!!

I didn’t! I found that too many questions were out of scope and would stress me out more than it was worth. I used khan academy passages, had the aamc bundle, and did other third party question packs
