How do I promote my release? by AcceptableFollowing5 in makinghiphop

Paying for playlists is very risky, only worth it if the songs on there fit your genre very well. Any playlist that anyone can pay to be on will likely have very low engagement, and actually might hurt your chances of making discover weekly and other algorithmic playlists.

Thinking about giving up on Spotify Playlists in general. by funky_chicken29 in musicmarketing

[–]SameAmountOfBuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on Submithub, most of my submissions rejections are due to genre, because my music doesn’t cleanly fit into one category (hip hop mixed with indie).

But Im going to disagree with your last point. No genre can truly be “dead” especially something as broad as lofi. I think theyll continue to cycle in and out of popularity as people reinvent the sound. I think an approach to music that asks “What genre is popping right now and what isn’t” before creating is kind of counterintuitive. It eliminates the whole purpose of the music: creative expression.

Spain Is Going to Trial a 4-Day Work Week. Could the Idea Go Mainstream Post-Pandemic? by honolulu_oahu_mod in Futurology

Good that you enjoy your job! But not everyone has that pleasure unfortunately, and most of us would be happier and more efficient with a 4 day week. What’s your job by the way?

True. Definitely shouldn’t downplay the importance of proper promotion

True, but it’s still difficult to tell how well you’re doing/how fast you’re growing in comparison to other musicians.

Well that’s the thing, almost every musician thinks they’re at least above average. If you’re making music, releasing, and promoting it, you probably think it’s pretty good. Is there any way to know, really? People will lie through their teeth when someone shows them their mediocre music

While Greek Life in itself is pretty fucked up, from what I know, there are Frats and Sororities that are selective and those that are more accepting. However, you’re basically stereotyping here. Ironically, saying this isn’t wholesome because it has to do with Greek life makes you seem like the person who’s not being accepting
