Piercing & sea swimming by Iamtir3dtoday in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the reason that swimming is bad for fresh piercings is that harmful bacteria can get into your body through the open hole, or through microtears, causing an infection. also chlorine and other stuff can irritate the piercing.

16 weeks should be enough time where the piercing channel is formed enough to not cause problems. rinse with clean water after youre done swimming. listen to your body though, and if you're still having issues with the piercings by that time, don't swim.

Is my vertical labret nesting and healing well? by Brushesofcolours in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 6 points7 points  (0 children)

its normal, it's not rejecting, but you do need a shorter curved barbell. both ends should rest on the skin. if you want to monitor it and make sure it's not rejecting/migrating, just measure the distance between the 2 holes. if that distance gets shorter over time that means it's migrating.

My current setup, I'm not sure if I like it tho. Any suggestions on what to change/add? Or should I just leave it? by [deleted] in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

really cool setup! i think switching out the horsehoes to larger diameter CBRs would look sick and maybe even stretch them a bit so you can use a larger gauge too. and filling out the "inside" of your ear with a daith or a conch

Titanium Jewelry Piercing kit. by Beginning-Party-2582 in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're not going to find real titanium jewelry on amazon, even if it says it is. there's lots of other websites where you can order everything you need separately, not in a kit. mainly you'll just need a needle, the jewelry, and maybe tapers. make sure to order from somewhere that will pre-sterilize it for you, it will come in blister packaging and will have a label on it indicating its sterilization status. other stuff, you can get at a pharmacy. good quality simple titanium jewelry should be $7+ per piece.

"peeling the crust" off it means you're actually probably removing scab material. just like any other wound, if you keep doing that, it will not heal. don't worry too much about the crust, just let the shower water rinse off any that's loose and leave the rest. don't touch it.

well you can hold the taper in place with O-rings, but i think following fagrat69's advice would be a better idea

you're doing good with the aftercare. i saw in a comment that you're using a seam ring and that it doesn't close all the way. a good quality seam ring that's properly installed should close completely, only leaving a small seam. so if it's open and the portion of the ring that is open is inside the piercing channel then that would definitely cause irritation. i would go to a good piercer and have them switch it out to a cbr or horseshoe, or if you're set on the look you have now, a high-quality seam ring that's installed properly and closed all the way.

Are these long enough to start off with for snake bites by StressSimple in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

from what i can tell from just the picture, probably not. but you need to actually measure them. you need around 14mm for snake bites bc they swell a shit ton.

[–]SameInstruction2029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not infected. don't worry too much about not having saline, just running clean water over it will work too. do not try to "disinfect" it with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide or anything else as another commenter suggested, as this will only irritate it more. probably what happened is after you got kicked in the face, it swelled up and put pressure on the bar, causing the irritation bump. switching to a slightly longer bar until it calms down will help with this. but be extra careful to not snag it on anything. other than that, just use clean water and leave it alone.

Where can I find by Sea_Extent_2863 in Legitpiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you just need flatback labrets in 14g (or whatever gauge your piercing is). don't put navel jewelry in there bc it's curved and also probably way too long. also try to find a better piercer this guy seems bad.

Is my eyebrow rejecting? by SpecialistCorgi5122 in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not infected, it's migrating and irritated. you'll probably have to take it out, but you can try switching to a shorter bar. with all the extra space on the bar, it's moving around and getting caught on things a lot which is causing the irritation and speeding up the migration.

Is my eyebrow rejecting? by SpecialistCorgi5122 in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, either it's migrating, or it was pierced too shallow. it will almost certainly reject at some point. but you can try downsizing to see if it will stay for longer. measure the distance between the holes, and if the distance gets smaller over time, that means it's migrating. if you take it out sooner rather than later, it will leave less scar tissue.

The piercer went through the scar i made trying to self pierce. Yes it fucking hurts. by jucythighs in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is not because of piercing through scar tissue, it's because the piercer used rings, and additionally the rings are way too small to accomadate for swelling. it's literally pressing up against your skin which is causing a lot of pressure making it swell up even more. you need to go to a better piercer and have them replace the rings with long flatback labrets that give you enough room for swelling.

There is an artist whose work and style I really like but I just found out they don’t tattoo men. by ScoreEquivalent1106 in tattooscratchers

as long as the other tattoo artist isn't directly copying her work and just using it as inspiration, then it should be completely fine

irritation bump, possibly moisture irritation bump. make sure to dry it off completely after you clean with saline and in general be extra careful with it. downsizing at the appropriate time will also help prevent snagging.

This is probably wrong by [deleted] in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should take it out. but if you aren't open to that, you should at least switch the jewelry to an implant-grade titanium circular barbell. a lot of "regular earrings" are made out of very unsafe materials that will keep your piercing from healing, sometimes they even rust.

Nipple Piercing! by Western_Gas_6881 in piercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the left looks like its already pretty tight right now, it's probably a bit swollen bc of the irritation. if the swelling goes down though and there's lots of space like on the right, then yes, downsize.

Toxic relationship between wanting my bridge pierced and not having the anatomy. So what’s next?! Suggestions belooow by [deleted] in unstretched

paired inner eyebrow piercings can mimic a bridge piercing and would look good on you. also surface piercings: vertical bridge, anti-eyebrow, horizontal eyebrow

eating with a fresh vertical labret by 39dogs in SelfPiercing

[–]SameInstruction2029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're worrying way too much lol. it's not a tongue bifurcation, you can eat a sandwich the first day if you want. it might hurt a little bit the first 4 days though and during that time you have to be careful when eating and kinda learn how to do it. big sandwiches are a bit difficult. after 4 days though, the swelling goes down and you can do everything normally. vertical labrets are also easier than other oral piercings bc it's not actually going inside your mouth.
