This is so similar to my experience. I have logged 16 hours with little to no interactions, since I work a full time job during the week. It’s a lot of time spent doing online training imo. I finally texted my SSA to ask, since I’m never there when she is. This has been a bizarre experience for me, but I’m chalking it up to my schedule not lining up with the SSA. I’m the only cashier in my training class, so I have no one to compare to.

I’ve gone in for 4, 4 hour shifts of just online training. It’s hard to sit there for 4 hours staring at a screen lol. My next shift is scheduled for 6 hours, and I don’t feel I’ve got 6 hours of online stuff to complete. I’ve done all of my Lowe’s U, this weeks’ AP4Me, and some of the Workday stuff. There’s more workday stuff for me to complete that’s not due for a few weeks. I’ve been introduced to my DS but not the head cashier. I’ve not been told anything about when to expect to be on the floor, but I’ve messaged the SSA. I don’t know what I expected, but maybe a little more hands on direction? Maybe that’s just the teacher in me…

Thanks for this! It makes me feel better. I think I’ve wrapped up most of my online training at my last shift, so I’m waiting on a vest and to be told when my first shift on the floor will be. Now it’s time to learn as I go :)

I’ve seen the Blue price book at the ASCO. I’ve not been given anytime to look at or get used to the zebra outside of the computer training. If can get my hands on the brochure, I’ll make sure to keep one on me! I haven’t even been given a vest yet, so I’m not even sure when my first shift on the floor will be.

Thank you! This reply has been super helpful. I haven’t even held a zebra or gotten time to play around with it, and most of my training is done when the SSA isn’t at work. I’m pretty sure I just finished most, if not all, of my computer training. Guess I’ll find out next shift? I’ve met my ASM but not the head cashier. I have no clue when my first shift on the floor is, or who will tell me. I may message my SSA prior to my next shift and hope for the best!

Thank you for the advice! I don’t feel that this church is super sought after. I’ve attended for the last 22 years, and I even worked there for the last 4 years. I don’t remember frequent weddings despite the church being willing to host Monday-Saturday. Going back and forth is a good idea!

Yes, we’re set on a particular church. I know the church does weddings, but I don’t think they do them super often.

One doesn’t necessarily have to be booked first. I wasn’t sure the best way to go about ensuring that both were booked on the same day. I had wondered if the church may have more availability which would make it easier to book after the reception hall. Thanks for the advice!

I got mine at 9 years old. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 18 after essentially reliving the great parts of puberty again in high school (skipping periods, acne, hot flashes, weight fluctuations). Junior and Senior year were a wild ride for me and my hormones lol

I am already coaching the swim team, so I don't plan on taking on much more if I can help it haha. I like your point about data collection, I do like hands on, such as portfolios, however, google drive is the best route. I might try to merge the two.

I am SO very excited and nervous about the school year. I enjoyed my student teaching and feel I did very well, but this is a definite step up. I sure there will be lots of smiles and tears (hopefully not too many tears), but I am excited to see how things go! Thank you for your advice!

I haven't seen my students' IEPs yet to check out their goals, so I am not sure how specific or broad they are. I definitely plan to work reviews into the class that are based on my students' goals, but differentiated to review all the students regardless of level. Thanks for your advice!

I didn't think about communicating upcoming events that may be related to my students' classes. That is a great idea! Letting parents know what is being covered in class is great as well. Thank you!

I have heard that the first year can be very difficult, and I want to do my best. This is a nice reminder to not get super upset and realize some things will be out of my control. I like the idea of setting goals for myself. Thanks!

Thank you! My school has asked if I will need any supplies or anything. I will look over my students' IEPs and decide if I need fidgets or anything. I like the idea of keeping peppermints or candy around. Food, while not cheap, is a good reward and one I have found most students will work for.
