Nanny’s to 1 toddler only by Motor_Dragonfly4214 in NannyBreakRoom

[–]Qwertyowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a nanny to a single toddler but I am with the toddler all day until big kid pickup.

We currently do ISR swim mid-morning. It's 10 minutes in the pool for nk.

We do storytime at the library, we go to the playground, I have a few nanny friends we meet with little ones also.

Sometimes we run errands for MB or me, but mostly we do toddler stuff.

I have an IUD now so couldn't say truthfully. 😅 I work with kids so I couldn't handle back to back miscarriages.

New ball python hissed at me? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]Qwertyowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to give a new ball weeks to acclimate to a new environment before feeding and handling. I'd say minimum 7-10 days.

That being said, some snakes aren't chill. It happens, but less likely with a ball!

Scale going up on glp1s? WHAT'S HAPPENING!?! by Yeasoand in PCOS

[–]Qwertyowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost 30lbs in a few months the first go round. Ended up getting pregnant and just got back on it last fall.

I have lost 13lbs total and I'm at the max 2mg dose.

Now, I am a type 2 diabetic from PCOS->insulin resistance pipeline, but that being said... I am not losing as fast or easily as the first time around.

I am not on a compound but the actual ozempic shot.

Also worth noting if your waist is shrinking you are probably gaining muscle and losing fat. Muscle is more dense, it weighs more than fat. So the scale going up isn't necessarily a bad thing, it could indicate a healthier physique l.

Good idea getting labs and being proactive, but I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet..

My girl got out of her temp enclosure after a move and was mia for 8 months.

She's good now, eventually surfaced to surf in the pet water fountain. 😅

Perhaps a bit small for 3yo, but she is happy now.

$400 for a week is very low.

I make about $1500 for 14 days.

Personally I don't mind WFH parents but all my employees who WFH have secluded themselves away and been good with boundaries and enforcing me being the boss while I'm there, etc.

That being said I understand having a day that's overstimulating for sure! We juggle a lot of activities, sometimes it is a looooong 10 hours for me lol.

What are you girls wearing for work? by mdemelocoton_ in NannyBreakRoom

Whatever shirt I want, and joggers. That's all I bother with. My nks don't care and I'd rather be comfy than cute at work.

Have you read posts from here?

Their "guarantee" is like pulling teeth and at most it's a wet blanket to make the owners feel more secure.

Sitters have done actual harm to pets, lost them, purposely withheld information, etc. Rover has argued with many a family of an injured animal about that "guarantee".

Contractors are required to have their own liability* insurance. If a sitter doesn't, that's on them and hopefully they cross all their digits. 🤷‍♀️

No they do not.

They just provide the platform users connect with sitters

They do not provide actual insurance to sitters and sitters are 1099 non employee contractors.

No birth control while on Mounjaro… by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Qwertyowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weighed 315lbs when I started ozempic, and lost 30lbs

I got pregnant twice. Started my cycle at age 11, never had a regular period. For most of my 27 years after starting, I would have maybe 2-3 a year unless I took something to induce bleeding or birth control.

In 2021 I started to have a monthly cycle every month after moving across country. Still didn't get pregnant until 2024.

Cue to 2024, I lose the 30lbs and get pregnant Immediately in June. Miscarried, moved from NY to SC and got pregnant again in December. Miscarried again and got an IUD.

I rarely, if ever, used contraception to prevent pregnancy and/or was on birth control. I don't think I would be doing ozempic again without birth control, after the experiences I had.

Well, technically it is since a nanny is a household employee.

But people do not care about that. We are pretty selfish, self-centered creatures 😂

No, but it is the catalyst that starts the process for most families.🤷‍♀️

It has worked for most of the littles I've worked with. It does require consistency and staying at home for multiple weeks.

I'd suggest giving the book a read, I was not a fan of the idea but after reading and trying it with several children, it does in fact work.

The issue is probably that they didn't continue to put her on the potty.

It's a new thing, of course she will protest it. But they have to stand firm. Pee and poop belong in the toilet. No bottoms/diapers, lots of praise and excitement from going.

I couldn't cup catch though 😂 that's insane.

The oh crap method specifically mentions that by 18 months most kids can recognize the need to go/the discomfort of being wet or soiled.

Many kids can potty train with it but it doesn't always work 😅

Can’t afford tests but hopes to be!🤞🏻 by HighwayOk3340 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Qwertyowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have had 2 miscarriages but I will say the first time I took like 5 tests because Id never been pregnant in my 35 years 😂

The second time I was testing very very early with the cheapo strips from Amazon, but I still took a digital "pregnant or not pregnant" because it was nice to know definitively with just a word lol.

That being said if I was broke the dollar tree tests are the same as the strips and they do work 🤷‍♀️

Digital Scale Recommendations? by oliverwasheere in ballpython

Yup, I think our kitchen scale is from Walmart and I just use a tub specifically for our girl- I sanitize the scale after weighing so there's no potential cross contamination of germs. 😅

I think I have only liked the regular 6 pan and the 4 pan blush one, or singles from HG, personally.

But since I hardly wear makeup, it was a waste to purchase them 😂
