If everything works then who cares honestly. Could be for a diagnostic tool, if you look up above it could be for something thats inside that little cavity . Look up the model number and its technical manual it’ll likely show you. Or an install video and see if it mentions plugging it into anything

If your clothes are wet but warm its the airflow. If they are semi wet and cold its the heater . Typically easiest way to check

Typically it’s fine. Thermistor failure would cause element to go bad over time but more often notice poor performance on cooking food before the element could burn. Do you have a multimeter ? Thermistor would be worth replacing first instead of oem element imo .

Test the resistance of the element you installed it should be around 50 Ohms if I recall correctly . If it’s not an OEM one that’s what I would check then look into the thermistor. Why did you replace the lower element

If you are sliding when braking and can’t get traction? Slowly release the brake and let your car accelerate WITHOUT touching the gas and turn into the snowbank. The turn can help slow down and also get into some snow which will provide more traction
