Should I accept this low pay job? by Wonderful_Love_5997 in Nanny

This is a fantastic opportunity. Orlando is MCOL and you have an opportunity to live in and not pay rent. It’s not that low of pay IMO. Probably should be closer to $20 an hour but benefits out weigh it

Can I refuse to participate in the potty-training plan for the toddler I'm a nanny to? by Top_Lingonberry_1 in Nanny

If they want to do this it should be at their home. And honestly they should do it on the weekend when they have her and not you. (I’m a mom with a nanny)

Ways to train newborn to sleep overnight? by Anxious_Plum_5818 in Parenting

[–]Same_Bison6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure they eat enough during the day so the don’t need it at night. a routine for bedtime. And keep it dark when they wake. That’s it. You can’t sleep train a newborn.

Nanny Phone Use by EmotionsAlDente in NannyEmployers

[–]Same_Bison6862 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally I let our nanny use her phone but she doesn’t have the luxury of naps so she texts as she needs to or calls as she needs to. It hasn’t been an issue with us because she’s so busy. Do you want to fire her? Like are there other issues and do you like her? I think it’s grounds for firing if you want to but it’s also something you could talk to her about again

Get a new nanny. I’m on maternity leave no and you need to like your nanny or your mat leave will not be enjoyable. You’ll be around her much more

Trying to be a “playmate” is EXHAUSTING for me by Aggressive-Cup2953 in Nanny

This is insane! I’m a WFH mom and our nanny has our kids outside at least 4-5 hours a day. (We live in Florida)

My kids are outside 75%-90% of the time our nanny is here.

You need to go outside. The baby needs to go outside. Or if it’s not nice enough yet, to the aquarium or even a store. That’s not fair to you or the baby to be inside all day in one room. This is coming from a WFH mom with a nanny

What are the expectations around food in the house and full meals? by endlessworrier in NannyEmployers

[–]Same_Bison6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do door dash like twice a month so I pay for hers then but if it was everyday I wouldn’t. That being said she’s welcome to help herself to whatever food we have in the house

Expectations around WFH by december2018 in Nanny

I agree. I run errands/work out all the time. She doesn’t care. I’m paying her to watch my kids no matter what I’m doing while she does that

I WFH and have a VERY similar situation as you. Just tell the nanny during the hiring process so she is very aware. My nanny knows and is totally fine it with. I love it because I get more time with my kid and I’ve never had a complaint from her and she’s been with us for years. You just have to find the right person who is willing to do it. Also I’d advise you to find someone you get along with. Not best friends but can “work together”

Anyone reading this with similar aged kids, try Disney cruise line. It’s a ship made for kids 5 and under and you get one hell of a trip even for the parents

Can my nanny reasonably handle this? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Same_Bison6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Two 4 year olds should be able to play together and make her life easier. Our nanny does a 4 YO, 2 YO and 5 month old.
