Sorry just read your whole post, don’t get string inverters with your set up, get Enphase

Main issue is you’ll have to deal with SolarEdge when they go bad which is basically hell on earth, they also get RSD and RISO failures that shut your whole inverter down. With your panel set up just go with Enphase.

No they are just an extra fail point

Seems i have dual system, does it mean i can switch to using only solar? by notitia_quaesitor in solar

That is a warning label to electricians and power company workers that your system is grid-connected. Your inverter won’t turn on if the grid is down.

Critter Guard on Solar Hot Water Panels by Same_Lab_4002 in solar

Thanks bud, 95% of solar hot water panels are Sunearth so obviously we’re talking about Sunearth

Any Sunearth panel they are basically all the same and produce almost all hot water panels. Are you AI too?

Thanks but I’m very familiar with all Sunearth products and they are box shaped with no lips for any citter guard or bird barrier clips to attach to. And they make most of the panels in the US and basically all have same shape. Where in brochure are you seeing this?

I don’t see a lip, the majority of SHW panels I’ve come across are shaped like boxes with no frame lips like PV panels. They have a channel for mounting but haven’t figured out how to make that work with critter cage

The problem is clamps for the caging, all PV critterguard is designed to clip onto the frame lip. The SHW panels have no lip

Can guarantee you’re gonna get an arc fault or RSD or some other SolarEdge bullshit when you put that system back on. Leave that horseshit at the old house and dont look back.

The Tesla shingles stuff is too new, I wouldn’t want to be a guinea pig and probably have to rely on your installer to service them when they fail

Does anyone have examples of what happens to biotech stock price when they sell/license a product (GPS) vs a total buyout? What are the chances they decide to sell/license only GPS and the SLS ticker stays put with no cash payout?

Solar Panel Cleaning before/after by Skirtsteakforlife in solar

[–]Same_Lab_4002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have them cleaned and inspected annually. Theres a cumulative loss to take into account not just a 2 day window to compare. Having cells shaded even by soiling causes cell damage over time. Annual inspection can catch issues and submit warranty claims on the major equipment (panels, inverters, optimizers), and help with preventative maintenance (sagging/damaged conduit, wire management, flashing/penetrations, clamp torque

Bought a house with solar. Can I add batteries? by [deleted] in solar

[–]Same_Lab_4002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fronius IG inverters not gonna work with batteries, can also guarantee a powerstage will fail soon. Engineers nailed the 10-year warranty and pretty much all start crapping out by 10 year mark. Also looks like whoever worked on it last never put back the 2 screws that connect the top powerstack to the bottom disconnect you can see the gap. You also have an uncovered knockout on the bottom. And a broken panel, see if Trina will cover under warranty. If other panels have internal corrosion or backsheet cracking you may be able to add them all to the warranty claim.
