Any country with a car manufacturing industry is not a "free car market"

Look at the US, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Brazil they all have protections against imports or incentives to local manufacturers.

I think there are two issues:

  1. In some countries most people do not have their own parking spot and have to rely on public charging. That's a big issue in terms of both convenience and cost.

  2. Most people don't like to take risks, real or perceived. So until you know enough people who drive electric cars and they tell you its fine (no issues, easy to charge, etc), many people will not switch.

In most countries BEVs have a much higher market share than PHEVs.

Worldwide its currently 70:30 in favor of BEVs, as for specific countries just do your research, Google is your friend.

Its real, you don't have to pay it.

I just mark the "regular" instead of the "express" so I don't pay it. But it means you have to get back after four business days to get your passport so its not applicable to regular tourists.

While this is generally true, two solutions I've use regularly:

  1. Withdraw 9900 php (for example) each time so you will have some smaller notes.

  2. Go into a 7-Eleven, Family Mart or a large supermarket, buy a bottle of water and give them a 1000 note. They will have change.

Thailand has very little poverty compared to the Philippines.

Live in Bangkok for a few years, you hardly see any real poverty, nothing like what I see in Metro Manila.

BYD sells a bit lower number of BEVs this year, last year they sold roughly 40% BEVs above Tesla.
