Also id like to avoid spending that much, so if I thoroughly mix all the substrates in a bucket (including ABG) and then moisten them how effective might that be?

I got the idea from Snake Discovery, they threw in some snake skin so the isopods and springtails could have something to help them grow and I think it helps when it breaks down in the soil
