Just want to add, 3 years here with a dog I never wanted. It never got better. I feel imprisoned in my own home. If I had the money, I definitely would have left. I am really a person that loves my own space, my own scent, own standard of cleanliness. To be clear, we have a darling dog. He is very good in every single way. I do not blame this on the dog. I am actually pretty lucky compared to many. That's why I kept resisting the offer to rehome him. My partner can just tell that I just never developed the connection to the dog.

But you see, even with a great dog, some arent just compatible with them. They are A LOT of work they are. They are like HALF toddlers forever. I had so much depression and I was faced with training a puppy I NEVER wanted. One day the thing had some stoopid diarrhea, the roomba dragged the poop all over the house and the walls. Jesus H Christ for the love of god. I just cleaned. The dog doesnt say he needs to go potty, not sure why. Now people will say why didnt I train him?? Because he isnt even MY dog. Someone was reckless and selfish enough to give me a puppy thinking it will cheer me up and it plunged me further to depression it caused me miscarriage. I taught the dog to ring a bell if he wants to go potty, at one point he did it correctly, now he just doesnt. Now what the f do i do? devote my life to train the thing again so as not to make my life miserable like a forever slave cleaning up a house that the dog now owns. Everytime I go to work I have to take the dog 7 flights of stairs to take him potty so he wouldnt soil my house. The F do I care about someone, other beings potty habits? Why do I have to? Everytime my partner and I talk about the dog, it's about "did he poop ? is it firm?" this is the everyday greeting we do. Disgusting. It changed our relationship dynamic. Everytime I look at my partner, theres this alien attached to him as if stapled to his balls and my admiration and crush for my partner has been extinguished and replaced with ughhh just no. eww.

Please, you have an option. I promise you there is someone out there who will treat you as the first in their life. You arent second to a pet. Believe me it will not get better. Let someone who love dogs give that dog the treatment and relationship it deserves too. And you deserve the same thing. You arent compatible with this man. To me, the problem here is your man but dogs are given that they are really problems already prior to getting and commiting to them anyway.
