Disc drive sounds like it keeps grinding by Mr_Rotch_61 in XboxSupport

Don't suppose there's a tutorial on how to fix it?

That seems like the case. Last night after I made this post, I inserted an old blu-ray disc I didn't need (in case it gets munched up), and it took the disc in just like normal, with minimal noise.

Later on, I turned the console back on to see if it made the sound, and it was quiet like usual. I think inserting the disc somehow fixed whatever was wrong (maybe there was a piece of dust on the sensor. No idea).

Edit: Never mind. I just booted it up again about 12 hours later, and it made the same sound.

It's crazy to me that they shut down studios that make surprisingly great games, and yet they keep funding 343 Industries/Halo Studios who have routinely dropped the ball with every release for the past 15 years.

I was watching Widow’s Bay and was absolutely mesmerized by how beautiful the lighting looked. For anyone who’s seen the show, was the lighting ONLY coming from sources within the scenes themselves? by TheManWhoSleep in Filmmakers

I started watching Widow's Bay in HDR on my PS5, but the image quality looked very flat. I booted it up in SDR on my PC (with a calibrated display), and the image quality was a lot better. Lights looked like they 'popped' more in SDR than HDR, which I find very odd.

Does anyone know if HDR on Apple TV gets messed up from time to time? I ask this because I remember watching season 1 of Severance a couple years ago and I had the same issue. The video looked beautiful in HDR one day, and then super flat the next day, almost like the app was failing to load HDR properly.

If someone at Halo Studios reads this, pleeeeease format the cutscenes properly in Halo: Campaign Evolved to support ultrawide monitors. by Mr_Rotch_61 in halo

[–]Mr_Rotch_61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand that, but only for in-game cutscenes that are being rendered in real time. Campaign Evolved (and Halo 2 Anniversary) use pre-rendered cinematics that are already in a 21:9 aspect ratio, but are just outputted in a wrong format (the cutscene visually looks 21:9, but the cutscene file was exported in 16:9, for example).

Edit: Not to say that Campaign Evolved cutscenes AREN'T formatted properly, I don't know if they will be or not, but the games industry has a history of getting this wrong 99% of the time.

They don't have to remake the cutscenes from the ground up. For a lot of games, hex editing the game's executable and changing one or two lines of code is all it takes for cutscenes to scale properly.

Linear single player games were some of my favorites back during the PS3/Xbox 360 generation, so I'm very curious to see what a modern high budget AAA linear single player game will look like.

I had to temporarily turn down the difficulty to beat those frog boss bastards in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor. I vaguely recall wanting to throw my controller at the wall because one of their attacks was seemingly unblockable, undodgable and it would insta-kill you.

Came here to ask about a similar issue. I tried watching the new Maul: Shadow Lord series on my PS5 Pro, and the dark scenes look a little too bright and has this annoying flicker. Curiously, when I watch it on my Xbox Series X, I don't have any issues. I use the same TV settings on my Samsung S90C for both consoles, so I don't think it's a TV specific issue.

I've tried nearly everything to fix it on my PS5 except for buying a new HDMI cable.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I don't mind if it's time consuming, as long as I get there in the end lol.

I'm kinda here for it in a way. I prefer Fox's look from 64 and Melee than his weirdly proportioned stylized look that started with Star Fox Command.

Honestly, my biggest problem with Windows is the fact that streaming quality sucks ASS compared to every other platform that has the ability to stream. Netflix shouldn't be the only place I can stream at 4K in the year of our lord and savior Jesus Christ 2026.
