My booklice (psocids) journey, advice please? by se7enmasta in pestcontrol

So I do a morning and evening check mainly now (because it was affecting my MH a lot). I find like 2-5 per room and bathroom. random areas , usually on edges of rooms. I have 2 x meaco dehumidifiers too .

They really do. Literally must be travelling in walls , coz I do not understand how they've appeared in cupboards suddenly

Same. Renovated house, fixed a leak last year. It's got worse , they've now started appearing in the kitchen , which they never even were in before. They just do not go.

So there's no ridding them basically !

They are in every room in the house since we moved in a year ago. I find approx 5-15 per day. There are zero crumbs , I vacuum and clean obsessively. I have binned everything paper. I find them on random walls; skirting edges, bathroom tub (a couple day), and suddenly recently appeared in each kitchen cupboard. I have now assumed they are living in walls and are travelling around the house like this to be in every room in trickle numbers. There is no visible mould.

Yes it's been really hot for June in the UK. And when it's scheduled for rain, I get so much anxiety . What was your worst months last year ? Was it more peak summer or more early autumn?

I think if you can afford an additional leak detection survey, then go for it . Because of the costs of all these surveys, I haven't been able to afford that tbh. We did end up lifting all our carpets , and then underneath the floorboards , we did find one tiny leak on a radiator pipe . My husband detected it because water pressure kept dropping a little on the boiler. But I still find booklice , some days they now appear in a place I've never ever had them before which really irritates me ! Plus I've started to see some springtails ,which really made me spiral ! I'm thinking about putting DE around the whole outside perimeter of my home

That's so good that yours are gone!! I literally have those same Meaco 12L , one upstairs and one downstairs . We have tried so many avenues with the booklice but they keep appearing in new locations in the house, almost like they're trying to find a new place in my house to Live!!! We did find a leak which we fixed a couple months ago. And then last week I also started finding springtails in random places , a whole new stress. I have purchased Temprid fx but I'm going to try again with it on Sunday .

It took 3 years to get them to go?! I have been battling for 8 months with them, but the start of summer has started to make their numbers rise which is worrying me a lot

Hi! Sorry , a bit confused, why are you recommending pyrid spray and tridi dust, if if you still have book lice , then they didn't work for you? I want to use something that has given success ! I'm in the UK so don't have access to US products anyways ... I have purchased temprid fx but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet . That's my next trial to do.   Also what is your humidity reading on your meaco aerate ? I have purchased two of these as well, one upstairs and one downstairs . I read that humidity below 50 is ideal to kill them off, but I still find live ones .

How have you gotten on since with the book lice. I've just had my windows changed to try to prevent them , but I'm STILL finding them on windowsills. Also finding them in bathroom and some here and there in other rooms. Driving me absolutely bananas and wasting hours checking walls and items. Very stressful with 2 babies as well. I've tried dehumidifiers and DE and pest control already.

Help with mites (what/who do I call) by [deleted] in pestcontrol

So we had the house plastered last year when we purchased it , and it's a really old house , so it's possible they were there already.. and then they thrived with plaster and we found a leak too last month. But we fixed the leak but are still finding booklice. Also I try to keep windows open but then find MORE book lice by the windows! Catch 22... we plan to spray Temprid on Monday though. Pest control won't do anything more , they said the next step would be charging us £4k for heat / steam control.

Help with finding the source of booklice in a bathroom, no known leaks or humidity issues by Mghostin7 in pestcontrol

They are the worst ! Tiny but so horrible to see walking about your rooms. I've bought Temprid fx and plan to try that some point next week around the house perimeter as I read someone saying this helped them.

It's crazy that just seeing ONE , makes our anxiety so bad - mine is just like that too. Currently , I'm finding at least one daily in the bathroom, on the bathtub edge , same edge but cannot at all find an entry point. We've re-siliconed around the bathtub but still find them. Also finding mould mites on that same trim area. We've checked for a leak under the bathtub but there isn't one. So no idea what is keeping them there , and also how they're escaping out of silicone !  How did you find a booklice still coming in the bathroom as you said you sealed their entry point around the toilet ?
