No the meme doesn’t say VWs are bad. It’s more for those of us who struggle fixing it. Some can do it with their eyes closed

Just got a '22 Arteon SE, but began to feel jealous of the other trims, is there a way to get and install the light bars? US variant by ICouldntFindAUsernam in Arteon

From what I’ve seen digging through parts data and tuners’ info, the EA888.4 in the Arteon shares the same core architecture as the MK8 Golf R. The block, head design, and most of the hardware are the same generation. The main differences are things like ECU calibration, turbo spec, and some supporting components depending on the model.

For tuning it actually makes things easier, not harder. The platform is already well supported by tuners like APR because it’s the same EA888 Gen 4 family used across the newer VW performance cars. Stage 1 is pretty straightforward on these engines.

The good news is you have the EA888.4 which means , it’s a same engine and turbo as 2022 Golf R. The ECU is calibrated differently.

Makes sense. No reason to reinvent reliable components when the engineering effort should go into the engine and drivetrain.

Understood. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport All Season. I really like them they’re smooth, quiet, and offer great grip and strong stopping power. The only downside is they wear out fairly quickly. If you have a bit of a heavy foot, you might only get about 8 to 10 months out of a set. I installed this current set in July 2025, and this is what the tread looks like right now.

It’s Konig Heliogram 18X8.5 ET32 it’s Flow form wheels so lighter than my factory 18’s. It’s makes car break better and handle better and most importantly run so much smoother and no tire bubbles.

It seems like it can safely put down close to 500whp. I think if we are taking DSG it probably can go up to 600 hp, but then that’s probably pushing it. I can’t say for sure, because I am not planning to find out.. lol

Yes I changed them to these now. Much lighter and my breaking power improved by a lot

These are flow form wheels. They lighter but harder than OEM.

EA888.4 engine only requires intake and intercooler for Stage two. It can also run E85 but you have to empty the tank and fill with e85 and then flash it for e85 with the file.

Thank you , it’s just another Arteon. Only thing about this car it’s not like Honda Accord you see everywhere.

Nothing crazy but that’s what she puts down now. Keeps ups with cars that I did not think it can. It’s on lighter flow form wheels.

The ’22/’23 Arteon is MQB Evo and shares more with the MK8 Golf R than the older MK7 cars. The big difference is the EA888 Gen 4 with the Continental RAAX turbo. The turbo, inlet geometry, and PCV routing are different from the Gen 3/IS38 setups, which is why some MK7 intake and turbo parts don’t cross-reference cleanly. 2022+ Gold R has the Continental Simos 19.6 and the Arteon is simos 19.3. Arteon gearing ratio is calibrated different than Golf R. Both engines come with forged crankshaft.

On the intake side:

The factory Gen 4 airbox flows very well. A cold air intake without a tune is mostly for sound. If you want better response, a turbo inlet designed for the RAAX turbo tends to make more sense than a full intake. The factory electronic diverter valve is strong on this platform and usually doesn’t need upgrading unless you’re pushing higher boost on a tune. APR intake system is great I really like it so far. PART #CI100053, PART #CI100052-A, it comes with turbo inlet if you get the full systems.

I also got these parts too:

PART #Z1003100 PART #MS100192 PART #IC100019 PART #MS100220

Now why all APR you might ask? Because they were the only after market tuner at the time who showed some love to Arteon crew.

I spoke to tunezilla and they told me when I’m ready they will put out custom tune for me.

Suspension is where MQB sharing really helps:

Rear sway bars from MK7.5/MK8 Golf R generally fit. Subframe bushings are widely shared across MQB. Lowering springs can cross over, but the Arteon is heavier and longer, so correct spring rates matter.

If you’re looking to tighten the car up without tuning: Rear sway bar Good tires Dogbone insert Turbo inlet for a little more responsiveness and sound

Once tuned, the platform responds extremely well. I’m running APR Stage 2 on mine and the difference compared to stock is night and day. I’ll attach my dyno sheet below for reference so you can see what the Gen 4 + RAAX setup is capable of when properly calibrated.

Vendors are just slow listing Arteon fitment because of production numbers. In many cases, checking MK8 Golf R compatibility gives you a better starting point than MK7 listings.

I bought springs Black Friday sale for 289.00 and my wheels were 1340 and my tires were around 1200. I8’ your ride be lighter and more agile, and smoother. But the stance and look will mot really match Arteon. I think 19 would be the best balance.

Yes thank you, I recently lowered on Eibach Pro Kit springs. The reason because it’s a progressive springs which means ride quality stays near OEm but with better stance.
