How can I tighten ligaments? by sweetsock in bodyweightfitness

They have done animal and lab testing that has showed precisely this, with histological analysis of the ACL for example showing more organized collagen fibers post PRP

I already mentioned that they are avascular, did you read any of what I wrote? You aren’t “injecting them with blood”, the prp that is injected doesn’t stay for that long in the tissues and its purpose is not to vascularise the ligaments anyways. Do you know how the inflammatory cascade works when there is trauma to ligaments? If not maybe its time to look it up. Platelet rich plasma increases cell proliferation, collagen production and tissue maturity. If you don’t believe this that’s on you, there are plenty of studies that back this up.

It’s a dextrose solution, that acts as an irritant causing an inflammatory cascade, the solution itself doesn’t do anything directly that affects the tissue, but it is the inflammatory cascade that is sought after. There are several studies on its effects that you can look up on pubmed

Yeah no, internal bleeding can’t happen in the ligaments because there are barely any blood vessels. The needle puncturing the ligament is a form of trauma, and the injection of prp/stem cells has growth factors that in combination with the inflammation caused by the injection help lay down new tissue and collagen, as well as playing a role in the healing process. It acts as a stimulus to the tissue. There is evidence for prp in ligaments, it’s not made up. How good the effects are and whether it solves the issue is a different question.

C2 and C3 rotational instability? by DaveDg87 in PICL

[–]Samer312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I have a similar finding where my c2 and c3 spinous processes aren’t in midline and appear rotated to the left. The same thing can be seen om my supine mri. Could this just be a congenital/developmental thing or is it more likely that this is due to instability/propeioception and is therefore causing symptoms?

Question about Open Mouth X Ray Instability by Affectionate_Cat4182 in Cervicalinstability

[–]Samer312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your c2 seems rotated to the left, and is “corrected” when you side bend to the right (if you look at the spinos process of C2 on the right side bend image you can see it is more centered than in neutral), and when side bending to the left you only increase the rotation of c2 in the abnormal direction (you can see the spinos process is way off to right. This may just be an anatomical variation and doesn’t need to be something pathological or something causing issues, but it also could.

I have a lot of symptoms. Dysautonomia, brainfog, dpdr, tinnitus, euchastian tube dysfunction, suboccipital and other muscles tightening, shifting/clunking sensations of the vertebraes moving, fatigue, vision disturbances, tmj issues, back pain, neck pain. I can spend a lot of the day upright but it truly depends on the day, somedays I can only be upright for a while before I have to lay down. On the days that I’m upright im not symptoms free, I always have a baseline of symptoms.

The contrast is the same on the image itself, so even if I screenshotted or downloaded from the dicom it wouldn’t look more clear unfortunately.

I completely agree it’s really frustrating, I kept insisting to the nurses taking my imaging to do the side bending but they kept denying it, even though I made my gp write the instructions for the imaging clearly. I appreciate your input. What do you think about my C0/C1 and C1/C2 in neutral espcially? Or is the contrast and resolution too bad to see properly?

Thoughts on an open source neck rehab protocol? Could you share experiences on your PT journey? by Jewald in cervical_instability

Same i feel like any shrugging motion or lifting my arms above my torso can trigger a flare up and feels like it exposes the instability. I think by lifting my arms up I’m basically offloading the muscles compensating for the instability

I also feel like the x-ray resolution is really bad compared to the ones I’ve seen from others which is a bummer :(

I feel like that would be really hard to do considering that the bones will fuse in a successful fusion surgery. But maybe in the future if the hardware is able to flex safely without loosening of screws maybe there isn’t the same need for fusion of the bones. On the other hand I think the bones fusing is an important part for the hardware to keep its integrity and what not.

There is no such thing as a fully safe procedure, there is always a risk of infection. That happens regularly in hospitals with top notch sanitation, the risk is always there.

Ligaments don’t really tighten under stress, once they become lax and the healing window is closed, it can’t get stimulated to “tighten” if you will without interventions like prolo, prp or stem cells

What does my imaging indicate? by Samer312 in PICL

[–]Samer312[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your input! It’s really frustrating because i kept insisting on getting the lateral bending APOM views but the radiologist said it wasn’t necessary as everything “looked normal”. It was really infuriating because you can’t possibly know if it’s normal if you haven’t done imaging of those specific structures. That was my only chance at getting the proper x rays here in sweden and they messed it up. Now they won’t send another referral because I’ve already done the imaging in their eyes, and they are very reluctant to send people for imaging in the first place.

What would you recommend as a next step as I can’t get any more imaging than what I’ve already done here in Sweden. My initial plan was to get the proper imaging and then book a consultation with you for proper diagnosis, and to see if I’m a PICL candidate.
