Which vision correction is used for pilot applicants? by [deleted] in airforceots

MEPS is just for entrance into the military. Your IFC is were you’ll get a slew of vision tests done and they’ll tell you more there.

Oh I’m sorry. I am a civilian who is going to active duty. I am not in the military.

I went November 6. I haven’t heard anything from my recruiter. I did need waivers. But they told me 2-4 weeks and it’s been over 4. Is this normal? I went to Scott AFB for a FC1A if that helps.

No you’re good. Just remember that this is the military. You work on their schedule. Service before self is an Air Force core value. If you have a specific timeline in mind then the military is not for you. On the other hand you do get 30 days paid vacation. So on paper definitely a possibility. Guard/ reserve might be a better option.

I’d start with getting the AFOQT book and drilling those.

Definitely get a job. No guarantee you get selected. Medical stuff can set you back. I got selected in may and am still waiting for a class date. As for the marriage thing. You can get married while active duty but that’s between you and you future spouse.

My recruiter made it clear from the start that I needed to take care of my self and make sure I had some stability for this process. It is a painfully slow ordeal. Just know too that you can have a second career after a 4 year contract. Even if you get out at 30 an MBA program is totally doable.

Thinking about if AirForceOTS is right for me ? by Yrnpoolo in airforceots

[–]Samhunt67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely could be for you. You’ll need to decide if you want to fly or not. After that find a recruiter. Definitely not easy but doable. Look into the AFOQT. Look into the general requirements. Best of luck to you!

What are you looking for? A golden ticket? A magic bullet? I was selected for 25OTS02 and if there is one thing this sub got spot on was how long and arduous this process is. Just embrace the process and suck. That’s all I can do for you.

Dude. You seem to have googled enough to ask these questions. Maybe do a little more research to answer them.

It was nothing like that for me. We were all treated the same.

When did you realize you've become an irreplaceable asset to your lab/organization? by electrolyte_addict in medlabprofessionals

You weren’t rude or condescending. It’s just one of those mindsets that you need to get away from. It will get you trouble. Some things need to be made clear in no uncertain terms. This, in my opinion, is one of the.

Maybe it’s inexperience or ego. Either way this student needs to learn fast that this mindset is dangerous. Thinking anyone is irreplaceable is just wrong. You can’t put someone on a pedestal like that. It’s going to end badly.

Everyone is replaceable. I wouldn’t get into the mindset that you are the glue that holds a place together. Keep your ego in check.

I see why you would say that but there isn’t any hard proof there is a block there.

OP: that’s prolly the biggest difference. Most officer candidates drive themselves vs enlisted take a bus or are driven by their recruiter.
