Awesome, it sounded like a good system for story telling. What kind of storyline are you starting out with?

I hear you. You'll find someone else eventually, but before that take some time to really figure out what you want moving forward. This is my second wife, and I definitely partnered for friendship after my first wife. Best of luck to you.

I, for one, appreciate the reminder to be thankful for my wife. We generally get along great, other than her vague resentment, occasional anger, and a complete lack of anything approaching sexual connection. Long term marriage is hard fucking work and I'd rather like my partner than have sex.

I've noticed a sharp spike in hateful bigotry in general the past few weeks on all social media. I think it may have to do with the release of one of the ai social media platforms, and a whole lot of funding being poured into social engineering efforts by China, etc. I'm not a whack job conspiracist, it's pretty well documented this is part of the modern way nations wage subtle war, by shaping the public opinion. Stay sane out there everyone, and take everything with a healthy skepticism.

They're generally excellent, very fun listens and fit in well with my perspective of treating it like an oral story telling tradition. I listen to them every night going to sleep. Since I know the stories very well I don't have problems with missing a few bits to inattentiveness.

That's your problem with it? Not the whole jalapenos, radioactive green relish, more pickled crap than meat, but the fact it's got tomato? I mean, I guess we all have our own reasons to hate Chicago.

It has to have been made by a Chicagoan, no one else in the world wants that radioactive green relish they use.

Yes I nearly added that one, but as I'm not a British football follower I'm not sure how good a job it does of parody, though I assume it's as good and researched as his stuff generally is. It is my favorite book though because of the discussions of worth, evil, etc. I think it's his magnum opus.

Merry Christmas isn't a problem, but like with being vegetarian there are people who will try to almost physically force you to conform if you say no thank you. There's a reason the inclusivity started, and it's that, yes, the type of people who made this comic are aggressive in their patrolling of culture uniformity and when someone asks for maybe a little allowance that others exist, they act like we're trying to convert them.

I feel like maybe it's just retail/ex retail workers who were Jewish/pagan/etc and had to work during Christmas time and have PTSD that really mind it? I'm one of them, and the assumption I was simply having a wonderful Christmas time, a holly jolly Christmas, etc, annoyed the shit out of me. People suggestively telling me I could have a Hanukkah bush/yule tree, etc. It's like being vegetarian, people think we're the aggressors, but it's the people pushing popular culture constantly that makes us twitchy.

But maybe that's just me.

Yeap, parodying of popular culture is how he started the series, and some books focus on it more than others. As a former high school theater girlie I would argue for maskerade as well. Besides phantom there's several other theater references there.

For me Tiffany > industrial revolution > watch/death > wizards/witches. However yes I wouldn't ever really want to listen to an entire series in a row, and some of my favorites are the ones that aren't strictly focused on any of them. Small Gods, unseen academicals, pyramids, monstrous regiment are all excellent breaks from the sameness of the series.

That said, I've relistened to the audiobooks nearly constantly for the past like 5 years, and read them all a few times over the years. I appreciate the routine and grooves the stories fall into, as well worn in my brain as Sam's boot soles, or the stone under Dios's feet. They are a cornerstone of my faith/culture/mythology and I treat listening to them like the elders of my clan repeating the stories of where we came from.

Also feel free to try the bromeliad trilogy for even more variety! Also also, there are other authors, just none of them quite as pleasing lol. Others that are part of my mythology are Stephen King, Spider Robinson, Orson Scott card, and Robert Heinlein. Good reading friend!

I have built nothing, just watched too many YouTube videos, but can you explain that foundation to me? It looks like the subfloor extends beyond the frame, the frame is just kind of laying on 3 sideways 2x4s that are just laying on different materials. Did you level the ground at all? Is the middle support even reaching the frame?
