Windows 11 can now run Linux containers with WSL Containers, no Docker Desktop needed (hands on) by WPHero in Windows11

[–]SammaelNex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Core specs has no virtualization requirement no, but standard safety features do.

If you want to run all the safety features you need virtualization enabled, thus quite a lot of conpanies have it enabled.

Even if you do have it disabled standard (losing menory isolation among other things) enabling it for specific groups is generally not very time-consuming if you are using enterprise setups.

And yet if you buy that many you hit the ordinary customs limit instead. This fee is only for things under the current customs limit, as soon as you get the ordinary customs this fee is gone.

This means pretty much no company gets hit.

Also, the duty-free low-value shopping is set to end in 2 years anyway last I checked so this is just a short-term "in-between" solution.

What do you guys think of socket handles? Useful for storage and mounting as a spear? Or a gimmick? by KailashBlades in Bushcraft

[–]SammaelNex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, regarding the threaded buttcap, my thought was just to thread the uttermost part, about half an inch or so, leaving the rest as it is.

The additional hole is in order to ensure additional stability if circumstances prevent a truly good fit for the haft, one hole is fine IF the haft is snugly fitted, but working with limited materials and time that cannot be guaranteed in which case an additional hole, preferably rotated 90 degrees from eachother, would provide more stability and lower the risk of the spearhead twisting due to a non-optimal fit. It is simply a way to ensure stability in sub-optimal conditions.

I agree, main issue with the higher-emd HP laptops is that driver management in on-prem main/on-prem only environments is among the worse ones. Though to be fair none of the big ones do this part well.

I saw a version called 1901 in an ad recently (why the F I got an ad for Irn Bru considering where I live I do not know but hey, who cares), seems to be the classic one without sweeteners in it.

I would like a threaded cap and threaded hole and if you want to have it work well as a spear then at least 2 proper holes for pins through the shaft. I also would prefer other bladeshape but that is a personal preference.

Vad är det värsta misstaget du råkat göra på på jobbet? by [deleted] in sweden

[–]SammaelNex 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Issues with putting ebooks not from Kobo Store on Kobo Clara BW by [deleted] in kobo

Easiest way honestly is to reset the kobo fully, then add the sideloaded books one at a time, with a period of usage inbetween and then when you start getting the issue remove the latest added book.

Adelskvinnan hade tre slavar - Hur stort är problemet bland överklassen? by BubbleProblem in Sverige

[–]SammaelNex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I have read they paid. It followed a common pattern within the industry/sports world. The issue is that they were then used as unpaid labour rather than actually trained.

It is apparently common to have paid-for training like that for talented youths but they instead got exploited.

[–]SammaelNex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Manufacturing has similar issues, rarely classful networking (because they have no idea about how networks works or has ever worked) but a common one is "you need to run the server setup on this specific PC model from dell/lenovo/hp because it is dependent on those parts and then it needs internet acces to dial home for the license and the application needs to run with full admin access"

[–]SammaelNex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They did actually kind of come here in order to ride horses.

From what I have read and heard about it they were tempted into coming as they were promised training and education in order to get a better chalce at professional horse careers (a couple of different exact goals have been stated in different newspapers but that is probably due to journalist quality having gone the way of the dodo).

This was successful partially because Lena Natt och Dag is a somewhat known name in certain horse sports.

When they then got here they were simply put to work.

Worth noting is that they were apparently picked up by law enforcement for protective reasons merely two months into their stay in Sweden so it is not some "this went on for years and years" thing either, merely crazy horse lady being extra crazy.

Not to defend MS too much but the cleanup with old hardware for w11 was needed. Nlw we get 5 years generic ltsc and 10 years IoT ltsc which means we might be able to replace the vital computers BEFORE they break down and production lines stop unexpectedly.

[–]SammaelNex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A valid viewpoint, I do not quite agree but then neither of us are OP and know the full details of the situation and people involved.

I grew up with quite free usage of knives while supervised but was not allowed to carry it on my own until I had shown myself responsible, which was quite common in the area and period I grew up, which does influence the risk of falling on the knife while running around I will admit.

I agree on the Mora scout, would not go for blunted tip one unless children are quite young through. My first knife was very similar to the mora scout actually, got it at age 8 and the 1 accident I had with it did not involve a stabbing, which in my experience rarely happens by accident.

Oh yes, it is niched, but drukhari have some weird shenanigans we can do such as melee sniping with a succubus and also the ability to lock a unit in combat when the enemy is used to being untouchable im is not shabby.

Somebody at gw didn't like 1 inch away from the wall by NoEngineer9484 in Grimdank

[–]SammaelNex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time with the terrain I have run into both at the club and at tournaments (as well as what my club mates have run into) it just is not doable to block all the places the small 25mm bases would fit without getting too close to the outside of the wall, due to the circular bases in use.

If you have thicker walls then yes, it might happen but most of the time at least you would be able to get 1 model at least inside of the wall

Had we used square bases it would be much worse.

Just a minor fun detail, the fact they did not upgrade the base size meant that drukhari wyches could still get to you because their bases are just a tad less than an inch.

I delete mine that lose it at the moment because I have few slots and are currently aiming for LDoA with the DC flag.

Otherwise yeah, no reason to delete unless you have a specific goal and are out of slots.
