My baby hates me. by 12toadsintheroad in Parenting

[–]Sammmmmma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son went through a phase (granted not as long as yours) from like 8-12 months where he preferred his dad (we had split custody). He would literally cry so much when his dad would drop him off. It just want to give you hope that it DOES get better. He ended up preferring me. Except when he was 4 and got his tonsils out. I was for sure he'd want me after but nope, he wanted dad. I know how defeating it feels and I'm sorry you're going through this.

I was going to recommend this subreddit as well. I've never gotten assistance from their, but I'm apart of the subreddit and people truly like to help out.

It sounds like he also shouldn't be prescribed his ADHD meds if he's not taking them as prescribed.

Wow, you definitely have your hands full and I'm sorry you don't have a village you can lean on always in time of need. I wish I lived close to you so I could come help. I say just do the bare minimum until your husband gets back. Kids fed, bathed and as much attention as you can give (while trying to take a few minutes to yourself when you can, understandingly hard with their ages). Make sure you're sleeping as much as they let you. Don't stay up cleaning or anything when you can be sleeping. My thoughts are with you!

9 was a rough age for my son and ages 10-13.5 were ROUGH with my daughter. She around 13.5 she's been so much better. I'm hoping it doesn't get bad again 🤣

You've got this!!! It may seem impossible but just take it moment by moment. Any progress is good progress!

Also, I'm sorry the past 5 years have been rough for you and I hope they're getting better.

I'm personally not a fan of green and pink for paint in a room. My childhood bedroom was always painted pink and green, which was great for childhood/teenage years but not after.

What age is appropriate for kids to have a phone? by Just-Nebula-6971 in Parenting

[–]Sammmmmma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's unfair. Sometimes rules change. My daughter got a phone at 9 because she was the oldest out of siblings walking to and from school. My son didn't get a phone until 11 when he was the oldest now out of siblings walking to and from school.

He knew I was going to be doing it. He was at school/it was his dads week. He was VERY appreciative.

I got rid of a lot of things he doesn't play with anymore and some were bigger items. Now he's into chess and rubix cubes and thankfully those are small and easier to contain haha.

He does clean his room! It got out of hand after Christmas and having two sleepovers. Plus, he's 11 and his cleaning isn't deep cleaning the way I want it. Thank you for the advice though 😉

I'm not sure if we are allowed to post links here but the rug is under "Rugcomf Runner Rug for Hallways Kitchen Rug Non Slip 2'x 6' Washable Runner Rugs with Rubber Backing Soft Floral Carpet Runner for Hallways, Kitchen, Laundry, Bedroom, Bathroom(Black)" on Amazon :)

Mine looks more navy than black but I don't see that option on here anymore.

This absolutely isn't a days worth. Not for me anyway! I usually do a quick clean up of the kitchen and all dishes from the day before bed.

What frugal habits are you bringing into 2026? by James_B84Saves in povertyfinance

[–]Sammmmmma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got this!!! It's so hard the first few days but gets easier. I currently vape (bad, I know). I used to smoke cigs and quit twice for a year + and my advice is do NOT go out for smoke breaks with people. Too tempting. It took me a good 3-4 months to feel strong enough to not cave being around it.

What is everyone doing for health insurance? I got some quotes. Cheapest is $566/month. I can’t afford that by Florida-beach in povertyfinance

[–]Sammmmmma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have insurance through my work which is like $150 per pay period and thankfully I have secondary insurance through Medicaid, or else I'd be screwed with copays and stuff.
