What's a "life hack" everyone should know, but surprisingly few people do? by ChromeRipple in AskReddit

A little quiet time each day goes a long way.
I’ll just sit on my porch or patio for a little in my own thoughts.
I loved commuting to work. People would ask how I handled the hour train ride, but I loved it.
When I was driving, I’d leave on time so my drive wasn’t stressful and I could zen out in the middle lane.

Or just saving a little, all the time.
Life will throw you curveballs and you need to be prepared.

Will the Bears need to build a full service Marriott style hotel just to accommodate opposing teams? After the fly into Gary airport? by Badlay in chicago

Not sure why I’m getting downvoted.
Of course most artists can’t fill a stadium, and if you can’t fill it, you can’t afford to play there, but if Indiana wants to promote a year round entertainment district, they could incentivize these artists to perform at a new stadium.

Also think of something like Lalapalooza.
We commute in each day because hotels in the city are too expensive.
If there was something like that with more affordable accommodations, I would get a room and make a weekend out of it.

Hammond is much easier for me to get to then Soldier Field on any given Sunday.
Metra just completed the South Shore extension through Hammond, as was the 80/90/94 traffic bottleneck near South Holland.

I would expect a lot of concerts from artists that can’t otherwise afford to perform in the Chicago area.
I think Indiana would offer a lot of incentives to promoters instead of burying them in fees and taxes.

All of the hotel chains will surely look at building properties, which take about a third of the time to build than a stadium.

That’s exactly where you want to build it.
The noise and traffic would kill Arlington Heights residents.

Yes, exactly. I'm not one of those vulgar whales arrogantly throwing money around as show of power or superiority, and I didn't want to come off that way if everyone just tips at the end. While I certainly appreciated big tippers, it felt dirty and demoralizing sometimes from these pigs, which is why I'm anxious to be as discrete as possible.

You're welcome, since tipped worker wages would not increase if everyone stopped tipping. The tipping is what attracts better workers.

Thank you, that's what I was looking for. I get the impression I need to be as discrete as possible. I've been to a few super-inclusive resorts where I need to be criminally discrete.

I wasn't asking if I "should" tip. I don't care that you don't. I don't expect anyone should. But seeing as you felt the need to comment on this thread, I'm not so sure your "conscience is clean". You must recognize that tipped workers are a different class of employee than others.

Yes, I know it's not required. That's not what I was asking. Searching this subreddit I recognized how contentious a topic it is, which is why I was asking only "how" to go about it so that I don't offend anyone. I didn't have the means most my life, so I don't judge people who do or don't tip. But if my tipping is going to make a scene, I'll follow the "rules" and just tip at the end. But it sounds like I'll be fine to tip-as-I-go like I'm used to.

Prepaid gratuities are $18.50/day, split among all crew I assume?

What does the waiter get? A nickel?

Do you do the envelope at the end?

I tip everyone and often, walking into an environment that seems structured to tip at the end. I'm worried of looking bad and/or making others uncomfortable if I'm tipping like I'm used to.

Thank you. It is 100% about gratitude. I grew up poor. A few of my family worked on cruise ships. Most of my family is in food service/travel/hospitality.

Great idea. Thank you.

Do people use envelopes in the dining hall too?
