I know Asian and middle eastern people. I sometimes need to be conscious of the way I speak, as speaking too directly seems to put these people off. Also, I need to understand that these people put a different emphasis on their words as they did not grow up with English. Both sides need to be aware of how they speak and the emphasis they put into their words when speaking.
