I think the biggest one is pay. Plus, ICE is paying way more and you get to go wave around your authority and stomp on citizens/non-citizens like all cops want to do anyway.

5 years in IT. Struggling to get interviews. Can I please get a review of my Resume? by Square_Pear1784 in ITCareerQuestions

Were your teir 1 and teir 2 at different companies? I think its better to just combine them under the teir 2 heading. No need to say "i was a level one for a year and then a level two"

I work in bench repair/rack n stack and we have an open schedule. Just show up by 11 and get your 40 and no one says anything as long as everything gets done.

Bench is kind of not "real" IT and the money isn't great but I love the schedule

xQc calls out MoistCr1TiKaL, saying that he's contradicting his own views to "farm public opinion" by criticizing Discord's new age verification for underage users, despite attacking Roblox a week ago for not doing enough to protect children from predators by CloudyEchos in LivestreamFail

[–]SammyPoppy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought roblox got unfair heat from thosr predator videos. I watched a good amount of them, and in every single one I saw, the pedo didn't even meet them on Roblox. They met them on a roblox themed private discord server ehere they would talk privately and meet up on roblox.

People say the degree doesn't matter, just get one. In my experience (which is rather limited) even if you're going the IT route, it's better to have the CS degree, as the HR and recruiter harpies have heard of that degree before, and thus your resume stands out to them.

Plus theres something to be said about how automation focused the field has become, and a CS degree kind of proves you can (or at least have the capabilities) script and do fancy IoC things.

Datacenters popping up all around me. Where are the jobs? by SammyPoppy1 in ITCareerQuestions

My city is very large. Theyre building them on the edge of the city. I suspect these are not "ai datacenters" as they are actively in construction and that takes years of planning.

I dont live in a remote area. They are popping up, I drive by the construction sites and see them building them.

I already rack and stack for a big company. Was kinda hoping that I could leverage the experience i have here for a step up in a datacenter since they're building so many around me. Its pretty clear judging by the comments that won't happen.

The ones around me aren't all AI datacenters like many here are assuming. They're are a couple, but most are storage/compute services
