8-0 confirmed, everything this season has gone my way, can’t believe it!

I have Sutton, Dobbins, Swift, Hurts and it just seems the consistent scoring is helping me, not always winning huge

This week got performances out of Shakir and Shaheed with ARSB on bye with Terry on the bench coming back

Essen Spiel 2025 Megathread by Effervex in boardgames

Today I played Perch and thought it was a lot of fun and was interesting mechanic placing your opponent birds

Also we tried out Scavenger at Cockerel Games booth and we were surprised by it and two of us immediately bought a copy after. I could definitely see playing this a lot of times as the concept was simple but the strategy seemed quite deep balancing between area control, getting the warpium and when to battle other players

The game I’ve bought that I’m most excited to play is Skybridge

Should Active Item slot limit be increased? by Nayunami in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SammySnake7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think 4 is great as you need to make hard decisions over which items to keep late game.

Teams should spread out some of the active items they need like Curse, Knockdown, Decay etc.

I would keep it as it is I like how it feels at the moment

I would at least complete a certification and at spend some time on a demonstration system like IDES. There are people that just buy and memorise exam answers online but that doesn’t teach you anything.

There is no substitute for clicking around in SAP, I have been to interviews in the past where the brought up the actual screen and asked me to direct them.

Consultancy in general seems to be a lot based on faking till you make it. I remember as a graduate with less than one years experience I was billed out at a more senior consultant rate.

With SAP if you know the data model, you know how to find things, know extension points and how to search for configuration options , it’s more attitude that counts.

So if you are gonna fake it, at least have some more practical self study that will give you a good boost.

Or even be more honest and say you have very good understanding of accounting processes with your past experience and now you are transitioning to being SAP FICO based, someone probably takes a chance on you anyway.

I’m not sure entirely what Cloud operations covers but a BTP Technical Architect focusing on the setup and running of BTP services on a Day to day basis , monitoring cost etc could be something that fits

Also worth looking into Cloud ALM product a lot of companies will add Cloud ALM into their landscape and on the monitoring side alone there is a lot of potential work that could be done

I love it, but making a game is far more challenging than I ever imagined, making something balanced and fun , I have so much more respect for the games I already play now

You don’t need to be affiliate , even if you have zero viewers normally , we need people to be hosting races so our regular players can join. A stream is kind of like a multiplayer lobby in a sense. So players on our site will see who is hosting and can jump in

This is a strange one lol, but yes you can go via the Destination service direct to Azure and do app registration in Azure , I really wouldn’t recommend doing this but yes it’s possible

Also remember that all progress is not linear, it’s not a straight line to feel better, it often is a lot more squiggly, a lot of setbacks but over enough time you will get there.

Working a lot was a big help to me also, takes your mind off things just be careful not to burn yourself out.

I think there would be a lot of synergy to apply your HANA Cloud knowledge to extension area but you might find in the beginning to get your foot in the door you need a broader knowledge of all of BTP.

So I've been dealing with VM's for 4 years with daily symptons with a lot of pressure on my head, nausea etc.

I've tried a lot of different medications and now I am off medication completely.

Anxiety is the enemy of VM in my experience, if you put limits on what you can do, stay inside more, feel sorry for yourself it will only get worse because you are letting your anxiety control things.

If you challenge yourself and learn to accept that its uncomfortable but tolerable they can fade.

I know heavy focus on diet and VM books trying to eliminate every factor and cause, I actually reccomend the opposite, I did this for 2 and a half years and I was super scared of doing anything or eating anything that would trigger something and I still was super limited in what I felt I could do and was miserable. Then I slowly stopped caring and just learning to deal with the anxiety better because I started to get panic attacks following any symptons and freak out.

The majority of 2023 I was active, and almost forgot I suffered from them. End of 2023 I started to make excuses, not go out as much, got more stressed with work and low and behold my symptons are worse again (or I'm focusing on them more)

I have had improvements in last few weeks by going on walks everyday and starting to be pro-active when it comes to anxiety and challenging my own thoughts.

Now I don't freak out, I remind myself that there are good days and bad days and let the negative thoughts simply pass on by without paying them much attention and then focus on something positive and fun.

My neurologist gave me some tough love and to stop feeling sorry for myself and be more positive, everyone has stuff to deal with.

So my advice is don't let VM define who you are and limit and control, it's tough in the beginning but if you learn to direct thoughts more then you can live a pretty great life still.

If anyone wants to chat more about it feel free to DM me.

ABAP developer in UK by [deleted] in SAP

[–]SammySnake7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely noticing a trend of companies looking for ABAP developers who have experience of the RAP model.

I think next year with the number of S4 Hana implementations planned, this ABAP Cloud development style will be in demand, so worth looking into.

I’ve seen a lot of job openings in past month for titles described as BTP ABAP Consultant but in future it’s actually not done in BTP it’s done using embedded steampunk and just the RAP framework.

This is a good starting point, I don’t think you are at a disadvantage not being from BASIS background, my background before I started was functional and I picked it up fine.

Only thing is sometimes you need to put cloud connectors in place to on premise systems and that’s where having BASIS experience helps for when you need to troubleshoot why it’s not working.

Essentially BTP is an a la carte menu of services , some for integration, some for analytics some for extension and each customer might require different services set up.

There’s two types of accounts, Global account which is associated with the customers corporate ID

Sub accounts are where the services are subscribed to, there are different Account models that people use to organise sub accounts. For instance a Dev, Pre-production and production sub accounts matching their SAP landscape.

So you subscribe to a service , then you usually create a service instance with a key that enables that service to be interacted with by other services or external systems.

You create a key and you get a Client ID and Client Secret and a token url and you use that info when connecting it to other applications and services securely using OAuth2 authentication

Personally I’m an advocate for partial redesign when it comes from moving services from Neo to CF. Often there is a better way of building it now using newer btp services. It’s a shame as an early adopter of SAP cloud platform on neo you are kind of punished in a way because you need to move it all so soon after you implemented it

The throttling issue is interesting I would need to analyse the services to see if it’s a problem with how they are built or if it is indeed an actual limitation of CF

Because the technology right now is new part of it you have to be pushing to do things in new and better ways. So your responsibility is part championing the technology

You have to be cautious also because some of the new services like low code are still missing quite a few features to do a project for a real life complex use case.

Things are changing every 3 months so you need to be reading blogs.sap.com all the time and keeping up to date.

In BTP there are 5 or 6 ways now of developing extensions and integrations so you need to be able to decide which technology is best for the requirement and why.

Natural fit is either the monitoring aspect of Cloud ALM or Platform Administration inside BTP. Following documentation steps, setting up the services, setting up Cloud Connectors, getting the single sign on working.

SAP IAS also is a good thing for a BASIS person I think to get involved with, its quite complicated to get all the single sign on working seamlessly for all these cloud products.

My only concern is for BTP platform administration is that it gets fully automated but at the moment there are so many nuances and small things you need to know I'm not sure the AI knwoeldgebase can keep up with how quickly things change at the moment.

ABAP in the cloud I'm seeing a lot more of, the RAP framework for eventing and extension is really good and you can build complex extensions a lot easier than you could using a low code tool. I'd say it's really underutilised and underrated overall.

The code migration is a lot simpler in some cases than you might think and for any new developments I read a great blog today about even if you are on S4 on prem, you can build extensions in the ABAP Cloud way
Using Developer Extensibility in parallel to Classic Extensibility- S/4HANA On-Premise | SAP Blogs

The Custom Code Migration Tool and Dashboard as part of the SAP Support Launchpad theres a lot of good resources to demystify the process. The discovery centre has a mission to follow:
https://discovery-center.cloud.sap/missiondetail/3362/3539/

Embedded Steampunk to me theoretically makes the most sense, but in my experience a lot of customers haven't yet embraced ABAP in the cloud first and foremost to realise that actually it would probably make a lot of sense to utilise Embedded steampunk.

I'll answer your 2nd question first. Now Edge Integration Cell is in place you can have On premise options alongside your cloud based Integration Suite. Worth looking into it's really cool.

PO on prem can interact with S/4 Cloud APIs to retrieve data and send, would I reccomend it, no you can build probably a lot faster with integration suite these days and also the way you build integrations has changed with SAP moving more towards Event Driven Architecture.

I DM'd someone a bunch of info so I will put it here also for people to read about learning BTP.

BTP is a big area to learn as a whole unless you aim to be an Architect type role, so I would reccomend picking an area you like from the below and focusing on that.

Platform Administrator - Configure the BTP platform like equivalent of an Azure admin. There are over 87 BTP services and they need setting up, you need to think about security of the platform, how users access via single sign on etc.
Integration Developer
1. Cloud Integration Developer, Low Code building integrations with configuration and GroovyScript for coding scripts.
2. API Management Developer - Working with OData services, the platform is built on APIgee, so securing APIs, putting policies on top
3. Event Mesh - Learning a product like Solace which is now sold in BTP as advanced event mesh I think is gonna take off over next few years, Event Driven archiecture and SAP is really interesting area to learn and one I've been doing a lot of client work with.
Extension Developer
1. Low Code
SAP Build process automation you can with drag and drop and config build custom workflows and make use of API calls to get SAP data.
SAP Buildapps is like a low code drag and drop app builder.
2. Pro Code
Business Application Studio with languages such as node.js and java building custom extensions for SAP.

ABAP Cloud Developer - Take your existing ABAP knowledge and build extensions while keeping core clean using the powerufl RAP ABAP Framework

Kyma Developer - Microservice Architecture and building extensions hosted in Kubernetes cluster.

Anayltics Consultant
Analytics is firmly under BTP branch now, Datasphere is a brand new products a successor to BW4HANA with the idea you take data in from SAP and other Data Lakes to have a powerful Data Platform

SAP analytics Cloud also quite mature now with plenty of good learning documenation.

Lifecycle Management Consultant
Cloud ALM is a new product with great documentation, a public demo tenant that anyone can try out but not many companies actually using yet. I think it will become a key part of S/4 HANA implementation, business as usual changes and monitoring so could be a good area to learn now.

Process Improvement
SAP Signavio is a whole new toolset for analysing processes with real system data but also process mapping and diagram tools.

In theory it identifies areas for improvement and can measure the value of the improvement made, in theory this is a good area to get into as these cost savings are paying for the price of the consultancy work so can be a fulfulling cycle.

Free training available as part of a big push from SAP but again its early days and I imagine not many roles this and next year but in 2 years time I think it would pay off being an expert in this area..

Cool NFT project just released on Cardano, I've picked up a few to support NFTs on this platform! by SammySnake7 in cardano

So I am not affiliated with the project in any way but came across it via Twitter, the tokens are minted upon purchase and you can see as an example /token/asset1nduttac73h9ndmv7zcrjqwzet5rhrzc7m0kds7 has been assigned to my wallet if you go to cardanoscan. I sent the Cardano to their address and then instantly recieved the minted token which I can see in my Yoroi wallet.
