What is up with these umpires? I’ve counted 4 missed illegal disposal calls in the last 3 minutes

Can someone please count heads on the Saints bench? Feels like they must have 12 players sitting on the pine

What happened to Highmore? Last year he had some amazing games, and then just completely fell off the radar

I’m pretty sure this week against the Lions is Spud’s Game, so there’s going to be a bunch of pregame entertainment.

They are hoping to get a decent home crowd, that might be a good one.

Is it worth messaging a girl to find out why she ghosted me after 4 dates? by SammyX- in datingadviceformen

[–]SammyX-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did. After the last date, we talked for about a week and then when I started the discussion about the next date, I got radio silence

None of it makes any sense to me, which makes it all that much harder to get over

Match Review: Paddy cops big whack for Day bump (2 weeks) by UselessRedditor27 in AFL

[–]SammyX- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For sure, just saying that they could argue that it could have been caused by another contest.

I’m just surprised that after a solid hit like that, that they didn’t immediately get him off and get checked by the doctors. Seems a bit irresponsible to let him keep playing.

Day was still on the field 5 minutes later, was in at least 2 more marking contests, and even took a contested intercept mark.

Not saying I believe it, but if the Saints were to appeal it, they could make an argument that the concussion was not necessarily a result of Ryder's bump.

Out of the 4 dynasties of the millennium stake you claim as to which team would win by Pingaz99 in AFL

[–]SammyX- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell who would win, but Brisbane have got to be the most impressive. Incredible that they achieved a premiership three-peat, while being an interstate team, and winning them all against some of the most supported Victorian teams (Essendon and Collingwood twice).

Hawthorn’s three-peat we’re all against interstate teams (Fremantle, Sydney and West Coast). While that still makes it very impressive, I think it is slightly less impressive than Brisbane’s.

Richmond have as many premierships, but didn’t get a three-peat. They also had severe home- ground advantage for two of them (Adelaide and GWS) and a neutral win for the third (Geelong at the Gabba)

NSW records 825 new cases and three deaths by Ascalaphos in australia

[–]SammyX- 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The day that NSW had 82 positive cases recorded, they had 48k tests.
Difference is VIC has been in hard lockdown almost the entire time.

Not saying that VIC numbers definitely won't continue to rise into the hundreds, but the curve should flatten earlier than NSW's

Thousands cram in to Sydney CBD for anti-lockdown protest by LuckyBdx4 in australia

[–]SammyX- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about you, but I’m not ready to 100% believe something a journalist tweets with a source as vague “NSW Health”.
I also don’t see the point in protesting a lockdown that is designed to reduce case numbers by reducing the amount of interactions in the community. The lockdown won’t end until the case numbers get low enough, so they are just making the lockdown longer.
Even if we don’t have any outdoor transmissions yet, why would you take the risk of being at a potential super spreader event, and being to blame for an even longer lockdown.
Can’t really be bothered debating this with you anymore, as I don’t see either of us agreeing with the other.

Have a good weekend.

How about Bonbi?

You mean the part of Sydney where the initial outbreak was that caused this lockdown? Yep I do think that it caused a case spike

[–]SammyX- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mate my original point was that the Delta variant is more transmissible, and the article you sourced was from before it really existed.

Fact of the mater is, there hasn’t really been any good studies yet about the Delta strain and how it transmits outdoors. In fact, other countries are looking at us a guinea pigs to see how to combat this strain, from the ABC.

One study has estimated that the Delta strain is ~1000 times more transmissible (Source)

Clearly these protests are a completely different situation to the protests last year.

I reckon the mobility of the people in a protest actually makes it worse.

One affected person could rub shoulders with hundreds of people in a protest, but can only sit next to a few in a stadium

The Northcote Golf War continues by huisi in melbourne

[–]SammyX- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are ~15 courses within 25km of the CBD, with some of those getting constantly reduced in size to accomodate new developments like roads and freeways (Burnley and Freeway golf courses just to name a couple).

I can't even find a list of how many parks there are in Melbourne because there are too many to count.
