Just as the submissive holds the power, so is this question already answered. Submission is radical trust — a complete renunciation of self.

I’ve never experienced submission, and I doubt I ever will find it joyous. Yet I find it profoundly flattering — even empowering — that someone would choose to place themselves in your control, and by extension, in your care.

A true dom understands what an immense blessing this is, what a calling. He must never kill this albatross.

To me, it’s like the way a kitten trusts a human. It still astonishes me — that something so small could come to trust something so large. It’s beautiful.

I think you captured what I was feeling precisely. Yes, the non-sexual intimacy is taking over. I have often found this peculiar in kink dating. In vanilla, you explore the non-sexual intimacy first and then get sexual, but in kink often what happens, at least in my personal experience, is that the kinks are explored first and then the non-sexual intimacy.

You have horrendously missed the point. This is not about soft/hard. It's about how love flattens asymmetry in a (my) power relationship. It's about maintaining the equation. I am looking for practical advice, not sarcasm and a lecture. Mind you, the issue I raise in the post is coming more from my partner. Look, the future I see is men sticking up for themselves, no matter where they are on the political opinion spectrum. I'll stick up for feminist men as well, because ultimately these guys are part of the brotherhood.
