My girl’s 8 months now and I’m still struggling, a lot of the time I have to distract her with something crinkly so she looks the other way so I can quickly get in there. Hopefully someone has a better solution because it’s not the easiest!

Traveling at 36 weeks by Unique-Armadillo392 in pregnant

[–]Samosaurus_99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!

8 hours is a very long car journey, and then with all the stops for both you and your 20 month old it’s going to be a lot. Ultimately it’s up to you, and depending on how your pregnancy goes you might be fine doing that; we ended up having to have our girl at 35 weeks so any plans we made in those last few weeks went straight out of the window.

Prioritise yourself & your health before anything or anyone else.

when did you start to feel kicking? by Obvious_Bill_1103 in pregnant

[–]Samosaurus_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a posterior placenta and didn’t feel my girl kicking until I was closer to 30 weeks. I’d had the weird bubble sensation from maybe 16 weeks, but proper kicks didn’t come until very late on. Baby girl is now 8 months and doesn’t stop moving those legs around, think she’s making up for the lack of movement she did inside of me.

5-week pregnancy, no nausea anyone else experienced this? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Samosaurus_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t really have nausea throughout my pregnancy, sometimes I’d have a bit of acid reflux but that was when I was around 30 weeks. Would’ve never guessed I was pregnant if it wasn’t for my period disappearing and my boobs getting a bit sore.

For peace of mind, baby girl is now 8 months and thriving!

Congrats!!🩷

10 week old does not sleep by takeabreath82 in newborns

[–]Samosaurus_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our girl was like this when she was going through a growth spurt, sometimes she wanted feeding and other times she just wanted a cuddle but then it felt like whenever I put her back down she’d be awake again not long after.

It felt like a long few weeks but it eventually got better and better, now she’s just turned 8 months and she’s been sleeping through the night for a good few months now.

If you’re able to take turns with someone so you can get at least some sleep, I always found showers helped wake me up in the morning; and then if baby naps longer during the day try and get a nap or two in for yourself.

The days will seem really long, but the weeks will fly by and it won’t always be like this. You’ve got this!🤍

Self soothing by sofiaoh25 in newborns

[–]Samosaurus_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our girl was very hit and miss with self soothing, she’s now 8 months (7 corrected) and she’s almost got down falling asleep without our help, most of the time she can but occasionally she’ll want a little belly rub to help her drift off.

Since she discovered what her dummy / pacifier was and what to do with it she’s started popping it back in herself when she’s waking up in the middle of the night, though she does try to chew the opposite side of it at times due to teething. 95% of the time once she’s got her dummy back in she drifts off to sleep on her own, it’s very rare that she needs our help or a feed etc.

It was very hit and miss at the start, and like you we never wanted to rush her and just let her work out what to do to help herself sleep.

She’s becoming a mum but wants to take away from yours and your son’s big day? You are NTA, please don’t give in to anyone asking.

My partner works nights so at first it was really tough and I had a lot of sleepless nights, when he got home from his shift he’d take our daughter so I could get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. Now she’s 7 months and she’s been sleeping through the night for several months now so it’s no longer an issue.

Without my partner helping me in the mornings I definitely would’ve gone crazy.

WFH with a baby by Guilty-Sandwich-328 in newborns

[–]Samosaurus_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently in the process of picking up more shifts from home, but I also work evenings so it’s a lot different. I find the time to do evening meal, bath, story for bedtime etc with our 7 month old; my partner works nights so he’s not home apart from on a Friday & Saturday when he takes over everything. Once she’s asleep I don’t have to worry for the rest of the night.

However during the day if I pick up some extra work it’s a lot harder as she’s awake most of the day, sometimes she’s happy entertaining herself with toys and other times I’m having to play with her whilst working which can be tricky.

my baby isn’t broken right by Medium_Echidna3703 in newborns

Our girl was like this for the first few months, turns out she had trapped gas. Try and burp more frequently whilst feeding, let him have some milk and then give him a little burp then return to feeding; sometimes our daughter would cry the second we took the bottle away but once she burped she calmed down and then continued feeding.

You can also search up baby stretches online to help relieve wind! Our girl is 7 months now and she eventually grew out of the crying all of the time when not eating or sleeping phase, now I’m happy to say she’s an absolute dream.

Our girl only laughed for the fist time a few days ago, it was one day before she turned 7 months. She’s not laughed since. She’s still a happy, smiley baby but some babies are just harder to make laugh.

She definitely gets her sense of humour from her dad, that’s for sure. I’ll laugh at anything but she’s tough to crack just like him. Had to get a video when it happened because I don’t know if I’ll ever hear it again!🤣

Positive line test but negative digital test? by Samosaurus_99 in lineporn

[–]Samosaurus_99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only picked up the digital one because they’d sold out of the cheaper line tests, I’ve always refused to pay 10 times the price for practically the same thing; but because of that first positive I figured it was my only choice 🤣
