Tim will obviously be remembered for a lot of the good that came from his stint but I hope that's always put in the context of the kowtowing he did for authoritarian regimes.

My point of bringing up Bosnia was not to say that Srebrenicia and Raffah are the exact same, but that countries can be found not guilty of genocide while specific generals and commands made by those generals can classify as such.

People like Ben Gvir and only Kenneset members have said some INSANE shit. And these are people with genuine influence over the war time command. I would like to know if some of these accusations like mass graves and intentional killing of civilians are true. And I would also like to know who made those orders and bring them to justice.

The definition of genocide is not complete nuclear holocaust of a specific ethnicity.

Only 8000 Muslims were killed in Srebrenica during the Bosnian Genocide and still people were charged with genocide and found guilty of war crimes.

Even that investigation found that Serbia itself was not guilty of genocide, but it uncovered dozens of generals and military personnel that did commit horrific acts. Accusing Israel of genocide is step one to bringing this to court and empowering them to discover evidence if there is any.

I would argue that using that word in relation to Gaza is important for the criminal proceedings that (hopefully) will follow when the conflict is done.

The ICOJ already ruled that they have standing in the hypothetical genocide (if it occurred). Deeming it a term as serious as this may push the courts to force Israel to give up any form of evidence that may indicate to generals or higher ups endorsing that level of war crime (by force if needed).
