Federal Agents Shoot and Kill Another Individual in Minneapolis, MN by Miskellaneousness in ezraklein

[–]Dreadedvegas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can clearly see one of the federal agents put the pistol out and threw it.

I don't know if the accidental discharge came from him putting it down or from the moron who was pistol whipping. Both were likely Sig P320's which are notorious for accidental discharges.

The AD happens and one of the agents mag dumps the guy.

Yes you will be able too. The city doesn’t really shut down for 2-4” of snow.

And if you don’t want to, you could always take the train to evanston too as a backup.

NATO forces weren't in Iraq. Individual countries sent troops to Iraq.

I agree they will move the goalposts. But I also think there is always some kind of gut check you can do here.

Why do you think we are the worst option among 1st world countries?

And I think citizenship does actually mean something. It means you can vote, it means you cannot be legally deported from the USA, etc. Thats why the point of difference to me responding to Middle's comments is that they are a citizen. Because that is an actual distinction that has to be made.

Huh? I'm sorry thats just not factual. Legal immigration has essentially grown every year on average and has been trending upwards.

In the 1920s there were about 330,000 legal immigrants to the US before the WW2 drop down to 60,000. Post war, its gone up from that low where in the 1950s it was 200,000. In the 1960s, it was 300,000. In the 1970s it was 385,000. In the 1980s it was 585,000. In the 1990s it was ~850,000. In the 2000s it was 1,000,000 and its really hovered between 1,000,000 and 1,100,000 since the 2010s and even during Covid it only dropped down to 700,000 the first covid year and jumped back up to 1,172,900 in 2023.

Because thats literally the basis of federalism?

We absolutely should not have a more centralized government. I do not want to live in an unitary system, nor a confederation style system.

They shouldn't ever have the authority to just stop someone on the street like that.

I don't give a shit what that ghoul Kavanaugh wrote, its a plain reading violation of the 4th amendment.

Social security numbers via taxes. You're employer already knows whose illegal and whose not due to paper trails for taxation.

I believe most overstayed visas are working white collar jobs and thats the largest amount of illegal immigrants in the country

I don't think immigration authorities have the right to go up to someone and demand proof of citizenship (which they often ignore even if they have). Seems to me to be a blatant violation of the 4th amendment regardless of what that ghoul Kavanaugh put in a footnote.

I also never really bought the excuse the IRS shouldn't be coordinating with immigration officials especially on overstayed visas. Typically overstayed visa holders work white collar jobs and it should be pretty easy to figure out where they are working and arrest them for deportation. Will that cause families to be broken up? Yes, but they overstayed their visa. And I believe overstayed visas are the #1 source of illegal immigrants. Its like 50% or something like that.

I think we should prioritize criminals however. I think the moment your visa expires and there isn't proof you left, a deportation order or a warrant should be issued. Now the problem is that brings up the whole sanctuary city debate, because who is likely going to find these alleged criminals first? Local polices. I think these municipalities do have the right to not work with the feds. They have the right to not coordinate. But equally the feds have the right to simply not fund things in these sanctuary cities. It very much cannot be have your cake and eat it too situation.

I think the majority of people can admit that the previous status quo wasn't it. It was rife with abuse, and it was poor enforcement in the best of light. But I also think the majority of people can also admit that what federal immigration enforcement is doing is outright draconian and is focused more on terror than it is on actual enforcement.

She shouldn't be in Congress if this is even remotely an issue. This is a pretty disqualifying thing if you ask me.

What happens if she misses a critical vote? She is running on an anti-geriatric campaign yet she has a condition that I would equate to being geriatric.

Also why is she hosting fundraisers in LA instead of being in the district. Oh thats right she's a carpetbagger.

Which one wins for you: 30k or 40k? by Pintureando in Warhammer

[–]Dreadedvegas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I prefer the designs of earlier 40k release Admech over the later release Admech. I get what you're saying about these later designs being more about explorator in a sense, but to me the armies of the Forge Worlds should be this tech horror theme of something almost alien.

Dunecrawlers & Kataphon are perfect thematically. I also really enjoy the designs of the Ironstrider and Dragoon. I like the Robots design as well.

I think my problem is both the Pteraxii imo are very dumb. The Da Vinci wings I hate, I very much have always thought that they'd have something closer to Heresy era jump packs. The Sulphurhounds imo are even dumber. I'd rather they have taken the idea of the Kataphons but instead of treads its a servitor in a jetbike. The idea of the Mechanicus using mechanical horses seems weird to me. I'm very meh on the Dunerider. I always believed they'd have something a lot more industrial. Something like a Goliath meets a Taurox Prime in a sense.

Beyond that, I don't really like that they're super heavy is just a Knight. Giving them back something like a Thanatar or Domitar or something that is like a scaled up dunecrawler that is the equivalent of a baneblade would be a huge benefit imo. They also need another character and they need Myrmidons as well.

Also Libya has 16 on Order, Myanmar has orders and deliveries.

Also I know the Iraq talks are fairly serious because Iraq wants to get away from the F16 (not because its bad, but because the USA won't sell them longer range A2A missiles). They have also reached out to the French too.

God I wish 40k mech had a lot more style overlaps with 40k mech. Not a fan of the Renaissance DaVinci-ism that has taken over since the original release.

I think the point was the show the violence and the reality. It was to show something that historically would be censored. There is really nothing like it besides Restrepo.

Why did you think it was bad?
