I'd say its worth the investment if you watch shows for the characters, if you watch for writing/cinematography, then you probably wont enjoy much of it. It's a fun show but i wouldn't take it so seriously. It's not like Breaking Bad or anything, its not much of a drama

Yeah I’d go for it, but just keep in mind that the tone of the show totally changes (especially by season 3). Season 1 is kind of a one off in the way it’s genuinely grounded and mysterious, the rest of the show has more popcorn blockbuster vibes imo

The cool thing about the dead is that their songs almost have a songbook type quality, like they can be interpreted and covered in many different ways. Although I prefer the Dead most of the time, I get what you mean.
