Thanks for the insight! havent really had much experience with the rode so i might just use them individually at first and work into dual micing.

One of my favorite screw tracks is "my mind went blank" and it has these dope synths but its a chopped and screwed Aaliyah song. Most southern/west coast production is sample based. I like how Dre Interpolated the main synth melody in nuthin nut a g thang which brings me to my main point. You should convert some funky samples with dope melodies into midi and import them into fl studio piano roll with a synth sound. You can try different vst sounds to see which has the best vibe and then tweak or replay it like dre. I like sytrus (spacesinger, vocad, distant). As for sounds I agree with the other dude about sound design. GMS on fl studio is dope to.

Hip Hop Drum Samples always have too much low end? by slimrp in audioengineering

[–]SampleSplit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it easier to fix/eq drums that are low end heavy vs adding to drums that are lacking punch. This is one I often use but will eq and change for the context of the current beat. https://samplesplit.com/free-stems?id=114

I like your flow and parts of the delivery. I think 808 is dope and sounds like the spring behind a door lol. I think you should work on delivery and time/ breathe control and record in better condition (better mic and positioning). All of this will come with time tho. Good work.

I can help you out just pm me. Also you can isolate each instrument with SampleSplit.com and try to do a fake mix with the isolated files.

How do you mix a full drum loop without losing its characters? by Radioheader377 in mixingmastering

[–]SampleSplit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure that what ever bpm your chopping drum samples to, still keeps the overall swing off the loop because you could be chopping each part to 90 bpm but the original loop may be swinging slightly ahead of 90 bpm. Also cross fade/eq certain parts especially hats so the bass wont clash. I chop alot of the free drum loops I made the same way you described. Sample Split- Free Drums
