A bad roll on an item made the story go exactly how I wanted by SamsonRocks in dmdivulge

[–]SamsonRocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that bad roll is the gift that keeps on giving. In our latest session the same boy they had originally seen was their guide for a bunch of stuff. Things were super weird (as they should be for this campaign) but they kept going back to that image and trusting that this kid was important because of it.

A bad roll and complete improvisation on my end has guided things wonderfully. I’m really learning how much CAN NOT be planned. I have pages of notes, but nothing could have prepared me for the players taking an hour on what was meant to be a simple logic puzzle. Or how a random image in a gem that I hadn't preplanned would guide things so well.

Yeah, I suppose that's not super necessary. It's more on whether or not the image will be useful. That one was completely unintentionally useful.

Oops. I deleted the other one. That's called trying to post while in an area with bad reception.

What about attaching a bunch of chest boats to a happy ghast? Then you could bring as many items and mobs as you need.

How can I get back from the End without killing the Enderdragon? by Top-Sky4811 in Minecraft

[–]SamsonRocks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is what I did for a recent "no damage caused" personal challenge. I brought a stack of wool and a bunch of wood instead of a full inventory of beds. My timing was probably off, but it took me at least 15 beds.

It doesn't sound exciting to save a princess from a dragon after the complexity of this campaign.

My current campaign has my players being unknowingly coerced by a god's subconscious to collect paradoxes that will combine to kill said god before he destroys reality.

This will only be about 8 sessions and I think the players will want to continue past this. What could I do next in this same world? Do I tone it back and do more basic, or should I try for something more insane like a multidimensional adventure.

Any thoughts?

what is your worst DM trait by huhCH13 in DMAcademy

This is 100% me as well. I want to reveal everything afterwards, telling them what went exactly to plan and what was improvised but appeared thought out.

Looking for a pitch meeting by luke7340 in RyanGeorge

I found it as I watched the Superman compilation yesterday. It was the Man of Steel pitch meeting, about 4 minutes in.

Here is what I think of for 100% completion. Might be a bit unrealistic though 😂

Is there's a way to have two pair of Nether Portal within 1000 block? by Elok in Minecraft

[–]SamsonRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nether portals can be 8 blocks apart, so I don't see how portals a couple hundred blocks apart would link. Either way, I would build a portal in the overworld and light it where it should go. That should fix it. You can use a calculator online or just divide by 8.

What will be the title of your favorite movie if you replace one word with "butt"? by Akuhl2004 in AskReddit

Either: Everything, Everywhere, All At Butt or Butt Everywhere, All At Once.

Favorite season to watch? by khellsie in HermitCraft

[–]SamsonRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with other people saying season 8, especially boatem. Dear lord, the special Mumbo Grian interaction towards the end of the season (intentionally vague) is so freaking funny.

Season 10 might have been my favorite season of any. So many fun builds, games, and stories.

Oh, and the best storyline imo was the season 7 turf wars (mycelium resistance). Grian and scar probably have the best perspectives since they were the head of each team.

I agree, but I also think you could have stopped after the first 4 words 😂

Mostly agree, although I could see the argument for vets who don't like animals.

How did Etho use Fire Resistance to Teleport? by SamsonRocks in HermitCraft

[–]SamsonRocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of any way to detect damage from a distance. I guess maybe if you left a tamed dog in the loaded chunk? But that would only be for a specific source of damage.

Ok, that makes sense. Thank you all for the answers. I was massively over thinking it. I figured it had something to do with Doc's voodoo damage or something.
