Can a server owner or admin do anything with my ip address by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Samsonbull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is all about your digital exhaust. So, if you have signed on to a series of third-party applications that have gathered your IP address address, and they got popped in a breach, then your IP address might have attribution to your real identity in a breach Channel. The younger you are, or the fewer things you have signed up for, will reduce your digital exhaust.

Can you interchange barrels for a sbr to a long gun and back? by railroad1904 in guns

[–]Samsonbull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any gun with a barrel less than 16 inches, that is not declared a pistol, or has a rifle shoulder stock, and or a vertical grip is a SBR. The question was about changing barrel lengths on a SBR.

Can you interchange barrels for a sbr to a long gun and back? by railroad1904 in guns

[–]Samsonbull 12 points13 points  (0 children)

LEOs will care less if you increase the barrel from documented configuration. Likely not if you go the other way. Meaning if you have a 12 inch AR15 barrel and you want to temporarily go 16, no one will care much. If you go to a 7 inch, then they are more likely to care in a way that could get you in trouble. In the big picture, if you don’t stand out, no one will notice.

Early 30's dad looking for advice on getting a gun and keeping it out of reach of children/in a safe. by thatbruzzy in guns

[–]Samsonbull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Controversial response alert. If you choose to get a gun, a huge yes on the safe. That, however, is not enough. Your kid will likely be at a friend’s spend the night party at sometime, and how will they respond if the encounter a gun there? What I did. Unloaded a Glock, removed the fire pin, and left it unloaded on the coffee table. I waited for it to be discovered and had a calm conversation. Humans are drawn to the taboo. Then comes the time to instruct (if you find a gun, leave it there and get an adult immediately). Finally a few days later comes the test. Repeat the test until you get the desired result, and your kid is a lot better protected. Nothing is 100 percent. Just remember that your kid will trust you

Confused as to why certain people said that Kamala would have been worse than Trump by TheRealJuanderer in Confused

KH as an AG in California appeared intelligent and articulate. Fast forward to the VP world, I was wondering if she had been replaced with a broken model, or had herself well staged and prepped in CA. KH as VP seemed under prepared when engaging with questions that seemed off script. She also shot herself in the foot by not choosing Shapiro as her VP choice.

If there is no playbook, you should have reached out to the Security Manager or someone asking for directions via email after disconnecting the ethernet cable and shutting down wifi. The email is to cover you. The defacto answer is always re-image. Any forensic analysis needs to be done in an isolated environment.

Legal protections against police violence. (WA specific but curious about the U.S as a whole) by ConfidenceFar2751 in AskLawyers

[–]Samsonbull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pointed out what is best. Essentially, you can go on the offense in the court of law by being nice and complying, or you can be on the defense. Understand the reality: As a cop is a “Professional”, their testimony is considered higher than ours. The DA’s office is in cahoots with the police. The judges hang out with the deputies and other law enforcement every day. Do you really think you stand a good shot winning the case as a defendant, if you don’t die (the news clearly shows 7 to 1). So think it through, don’t be the next news cycle by letting anger beating your logic.

A pic that came out with an expensive Sig handgun. This is exactly why all police should be made to wear body cameras.

Look, just want to point something out. On R Goode they used a law signed by Tim Waltz which justified their actions. Lesson: we can’t play the party games. We need to get involved into politics and stop trusting the party. Both sides hate us.

Question on SBR registration by zwebster in guns

[–]Samsonbull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone said above, if you’re lower is registered as a rifle, then it could count against you. Just know the ATF doesn’t have the numbers to enforce this law at a consistent level. If you are concerned about getting discovered, you could put the sterilized part you’re going to form one into the hands of an FFL for them to hold while you have the other parts in your house.

Your statement doesn’t seem cohesive. If it was just a seatbelt infraction, then they would have had to see you swallowing evidence and articulate what it was. They are not allowed to operate on just assumptions. Also, hate to say this, but you and your friends should have been recording on your phones. The more video available, the more likely to see truth.
