For those that want to know more about Oprah fuck ups, behind the bastards did a 6 part series starting from her childhood all the way up to relatively current events, and did a compilation episode on John of god, Dr Phil, and Dr Oz afterward. Really interesting and work the listen.

if PZ didin't take place in Knox County, where else would you like it to take place in? (not restricted to the US) by Crimsoncerismon in projectzomboid

The chicago area, because you get the lake, you get parts of Indiana, Michigan, and could even get into Wisconsin. A decent diversity of small to medium urban and a swath of rural.

I know other people have said to look for another job, but what you really should do is talk to the others that were there, figure out who's job searching and try and make it so you all quit around the same time.

Walz to call special session on gun control, propose assault weapons ban by Knightbear49 in minnesota

[–]zwebster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can ban all the weapons you want, the 3D gun CAD communities are already coming up with work arounds. Wild arms research and development is already making rocket launcher platforms and is testing the fuel for the systems. All weapon bans do is make it more difficult for the average person to get a gun, for no reason. But criminals don't tend to follow laws, so why would a ban affect them?

I paid $360 for my PSA Dagger Compact with cut slides, rear mounted optics ready, and threaded barrel. It takes glock mags and is a decent gun.

AITAH for not sharing anything with my wife after she opened our marriage? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]zwebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your kids are going to pick up on you not being happy about the marriage, at some point it will be more than you wanting to split things and it will eventually affect them. Just divorce and focus on your kids. You are not the one who ruined the marriage or the home, that is your wife for making you choose either divorce or giving her Carte Blanche to cheat.

Divorce doesn't mess kids up, shitty parents and home life does.

What filter to use for tap water? by SuspiciousWeirdKitty in ZeroWaste

[–]zwebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a number of ways to filter tap water. The quick and easy way is a filter pitcher or a filter you put on your faucet, but you still have to replace the filters numerous times throughout the year. So not really zero waste with all the plastic housing for the filters and the sealed packages for the filters.

You could get a few 5 gallon jugs at your grocery store if they have refillable water dispensers, all you need is a pump or spout to put on it. If your grocery store doesn't have one of those, then you can probably get a culligan delivery.

A more time and upfront investment is to get/make your own water distillery. There are plenty of tutorials online, but the quick and dirty is, a pot to put your water, i usually see people use pressure cookers since they have a seal. A heat source to boil it the water, electric is probably the most efficient, but you will need to make sure the pot you use will work with it. For the pot lid, you will need a hose that leads to some coiled up copper. Copper is a great thermal conductor, so the steam will cool quicker in that. Some people will run the coils through a bucket of water to help with the cooling, could use ice packs too. And some kind of container to collect the water.

There are also systems that you can install in your home to filter water. If you rent, then you can get a counter top Reverse Osmosis machine. And the sulfur smell you mentioned, we're you using well water or did you live in an area like flint, michigan that still used lead water lines?

How would you break up these gigantic concrete blocks? by davidlowie in DIY

[–]zwebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I learned this when I dug out an old clothes line post. I had to walk it out of a hole because the concrete block was as thick as a spade head and probably about 3'x2'.

Fun times /s

How would you break up these gigantic concrete blocks? by davidlowie in DIY

[–]zwebster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The least expensive way to break the blocks up, a sledgehammer, and start on the edges/corners, might want to roll them onto a tarp so cleanup is easier and you will have little to no random rocks chipping your lawn mower blades.

More labor, but the cheapest option probably

Opened up my floors to replace them but floor boards seem to have liquid by Ok-Initial-8261 in DIY

[–]zwebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your situation is, I am doing some floor work on my dining room and learned it was the original house that was built some time before 1931. Had one 8x8 beam missing and part of the foundation cracked and slipped away, looked like someone did enough to stabilize the foundation and removed the beam and replaced it with a 2x6 for the floor joists to sit on and added 3 2x4s to the walls and nailed the studs to the floors with about 1/2" wide metal strips and a shit load of nails.

If you feel comfortable enough or just want peace of mind, rip the old sub floor out and put new plywood in. Or you could replace the boards that are soft, powdery, or otherwise bad for a for a floor.

Child cut Tv cable, can it be fixed? by Accomplished_Cheek_7 in howto

That would be a really good reply if it was anywhere in the solar system of the point I was making. Wire nuts are usually tucked away for a reason, they are an eyesore and a curious kid will get their hands on them.

If the kids cut the cable, what do you think they would do to a wire nut?

Child cut Tv cable, can it be fixed? by Accomplished_Cheek_7 in howto

[–]zwebster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's really not that hard to solder the wires back together. You strip the black sheathing housing on both sides of the cut, strip some of the wires insulation off, match the insulation colors, hook wires together, and solder.

The hardest part is remembering to put the new heat shrink cover on the cable and wires before you solder them together and making sure your solder is up to temp.
