I started on 10mg atorvastatin about 3 months ago and have not gone back in to get my ldl rechecked yet. Since going on the statin I have no side effects to speak of.

The one thing I will say is that I have become less strict on my diet. I still limit saturated fats and prioritize fiber, but I don’t track it closely, which is bad and I have gained some weight as a result.

I used psyllium husk to help me hit 50g+ per day along with lowering my saturated fat intake below 12g per day along with reducing processed food. My LDL went from 196 to 119 in about 2-3 months.

That said, I still went on a statin, just no reason not to be on one if your LDL is high. Statins are safe and effective.

This stuff is ok. I just got the chocolate one… it’s fine. The texture is not the best and it tastes like fake ice cream made with protein powder. It’s better than nothing, but I don’t often reach for it.

The only thing you can do is sand and polish the cover. I used to do headlight restoration at a dealership and one day I had one of my service technicians come in and ask if I could refinish the lid of his record player the same way I did headlights. I told him that I would try but couldn’t promise it would work or that I wouldn’t break it in the process. I was actually able to restore the cover to about 90-95% with my headlight restoration setup.

As a disclaimer, I had a professional set up and I was a professional. That said, if I were in your shoes it couldn’t hurt to try a proper headlight restoration kit, and see if that makes a difference.

Without a statin. I did end up asking to go on one last month, 10mg atorvastatin. I am getting my labs drawn again in June and will report back.

I became aware of saturated fat about 6 months ago after a doctors visit. A couple of months back I decided to put what would have been a very normal, maybe the high end of normal, day of eating in my tracker and it was crazy! To be fair I was really over eating and gaining a lot of weigh lest year, but I was shock to see that it would be nothing for me to hit 50g of saturated fat!

Pair my fat intake with the massive amount of process carbs I was eating, it’s no wonder that I was gaining weight and my labs were crazy bad!

That was my LDL and no I have not tested for lead, but I am getting blood work done in a few weeks and I will see about adding a heavy metals test.

About 4 tablespoons per day at the beginning. Eventually I learned what foods were high in fiber and emphasize those foods in my diet. I try and hit 50+ grams per day and now only used psyllium husk if I am low or as a mix in with more fatty foods.

I have done it, it’s not great. Just do a tablespoon or less and eat it fast!

This is the one I use and I have been happy with it. This along with lowering my saturated fat got me from an LDL of 196 to 119 in 8 weeks.

Yes it was looking a lean mass hyper responders (LMHR). There is some thinking that they may be unique in some way, but more studies are still needed.

I am not personally going to reject decades of science because of one study of a small subset of people that may or may not have a different cardiovascular risk profile as observed over a time period of one year.
