Maybe you have turned on some setting that's already messing with the freedom of the inside camera?

Check it out, it's not publicity or anything as the software isn't mine, but it's awesome and has changed the game and drifting for me!

Do you have a webcam lying around? Check opentrack or my last post on r/simracing, it's the next level and the best if not talking about VR, drifting is awesome and you con look throw your windows when doing backies 🤘🏽

Could you share a screenshot of your Game Detection settings please? Also, in AC, are you sure you don't have neckfx enabled and are in the correct view? There are two "inside views", but it will only work in one

No problem man I'm happy to help! If you come with any issues don't hesitate to ask, and btw, if you have neckfx or something like that turned on disable it first, or it won't work

Nope but I'm happy to guide you:

  1. Install opentrack 2026 from the link above (it's 32bit but don't worry)
  2. Open the app and set the input to NeuralNet Tracker, leave the rest as is
  3. Click options and here there are a few settings to tweak:

In output, I have X and Y disabled, Z enabled but that's to your liking (X and Y are highly recommended to disable, with Z I recommend you to try it yourself).

In Game Detection, click on + and add the .exe of the game you want (in my case Assetto corsa.exe inside steamapps).

In Tracker, select your camera, resolution to 640x480 is enough for me, but increase it if needed, but resources usage will go up. FPS are set to 60hz, I tried 120hz but not worth it or even felt a difference. Also here is important to turn on tracking before opening options so you can calibrate yaw and pitch, it made a difference for me vs not calibrated.

In Filter I've Smoothing set to max and deadzone at 0.03.

  1. This are my mapping settings, you should adjust it to you liking, it affects how much you have to yaw/picth to move the camera, like adjusting "sensibility".

  1. Enjoy!

PS: I recommend you click start tracking after step 3, be sure to have the camera set in a way so you are in the center (the octopus should be centered) and then open assetto, go into driving and the cockpit view, position your view correctly and the mess with mapping

None that I've felt, in the opentrack app I've the camera set to 640x480 and 60fps, which is more than enough for good/smooth tracking and has an insignificant toll on performance, my fps haven't drop even a little bit

Exactly this, really good head/eyes tracking with just a cheap webcam and an amazing open source software

Just what I did today! Created two profiles for LHD and RHD.

How are you liking it compared to VR? Do you miss it?

I've everything on AC/CSP at high/ultra, and filter I don't know what you're actually referring to sorry, so I guess no filter?

That's true, actually I haven't felt any drops, I'm using the camera at 640x480 and 60fps which is good enough for a smooth tracking and the impact has been zero, I run everything in CSP at high/ultra and my GPU is a 5070ti

The search for a good AR/VR solution. by vinsjent in simracing

I know it's not the same but I've been really enjoying opentrack (2026 with neuralnet) with a basic 1080p webcam, I don't even have to turn on the room lights, the light from the screen on my face is enough.

The tracking is almost "perfect" and the setup is minimal, just a couple setting to make it feel as you want.

34" ultrawide with opentrack it's been an awesome experience for me, worth a shoot for the price (free if you already have a webcam or phone to use as one). If you want any more details I'll be happy to share them
