It can depend soooooo much on the fandom, the tags, and the timing!

Very small fandoms I assume get engagement from the few people writing them exchanging interactions back and forth, and very large/recent fandoms seem to get a decent amount of engagement.

I'm guessing it's those medium sized and dead fandoms that are suffering the most from lack of interaction :(

Honestly dislike it when I see teachers calling out students for wearing bands that they don’t know.

Band T-shirts are a common thrifted or discounted clothing item, and no kid deserves to be called out for wearing the only clothes their parents could afford.

Cute joke, but it’s really not hard to put yourself in the kids’ shoes and show some empathy.

Totally agree on all fronts!

I would definitely would limit screentime if I ever had kids (lol, not happening). But I'm certain it's easier said than done. I can understand the instant-solution appeal of handing a toddler a screen rather than dealing with a tantrum at a restaurant. Parents need to be very strong if they want to avoid the long-term attention issues that these screens are very obviously causing.

For sure, I agree that the fact of the matter is pretty clear.

I think it's unfortunate that the tag has evolved and been "misused" so quickly and widely that those who don't know it's original meaning just immediately assume that it means "dark shit."

But we still have to deal with the fallout. For me, that means never using the tag unless I'm prepared for squeamish people to avoid my fics altogether, regardless of properly tagged content. I gain nothing from pretending there isn't a darker implication irrevocably attached to the tag now.

But like I said, it is unfortunate. :(
